Did you install it to the same folder that FO3 is installed in?

Install the GECK in the same folder that you installed the game to.
It will NOT work anywhere else.

Hi,

I dont think thats the right path. look http://geck.gamesas.com/index.php/gamesas_Tutorial_GECK_Setup.

There's a bit specifically to do with Steam.

Not sure how long ago this post was made but I'm having the same issue. File is in the same spot as the OP said. I know cause I've had 7 computer whiz try to solve this problem by finding another folder. It's no where else. I've tried reinstalling 14 times, unisalling the patch and reinstalling 12 times, tried adding it to steam (steam probs wont allow me to do so) so am unable to. After all this I brought my computer in to a gameing store for answears and they had nothing. If anyone knows anything let me know. Been at this for nearly 3 days stright. That link is not as useful as most think. I tried the whole loading geck and saving it as well. when i start it up the fallout.esp file is not in data files. try loading geck and i get that message just like the OP.

Any help other then a shove off reply would be awsome. (got huge plans with geck when this is done)

Live ID is: Rockeeroad

Thats for anyone who wants to contact me to assist while I'm in game.

Ok my bad. it's not in the same file as OP. (miss read text) It's in Local-(me)-Prgram Filesx86-bathidasoftworks-fallout 3-data

Not in steam.

Well I've tried a million things now. I've gone as far as a re-install and a near deletion to everthing but my save files. Still the same old same old message. Gonna install geck one more time. if it doesn't work then bah. 850 dollars in computer checks, 1 re-install- 32 re-downloads of fallout - 32 re-downloads of geck, time wasted on the forums/vip computer probs sites/computer help sites-32 re-install of the1.7update-and 17 friends who wanna have nothing to do with me and i think i'ma call it quits on modding. There is however....
.......
another message
.......
It says it can't find the file ssce5432.dll
This only happens if i try to run geck and it doesn't load....
but that file is in my fallout 3 data files...
....
confusing.

fallout 3 plays fine.

Still open for help and you can contact me via Live Id: Rockeeroad

So you are POSITIVE you are installing it to 'Bethesda/Fallout'? To the same folder as Fallout.exe. Since it says it cant find all these files that still makes it sound like your installing it to the wrong spot.

I found a way to fix the problem. The file was being *auto placed* in the wrong folder. My windows 7 finally ran a comp scan last night and detected that as an error. Told it reinstall with the recommanded settings and volla. I guess if anyone else has that kind of problem try to get windows *if you have window 7* to reinstall with recommanded settings. It is a common problem with the W7 as it has 2 program files. 1 being x86. Thanks guys.
Now I can start modding.
(seems like there really isn't much to work with thou even with the update) Still taking a look.
