The pronunciation of CHIM?

Post » Thu Jan 14, 2010 7:04 pm

Chimer is pronounced "Ki-MARE" in the Dunmer accent, which isn't really prevalent in any game.

Chimer (precursor to Dunmer) is KY-mare. Means 'Changed Folk.' Oops! This is a secret..!

However you pronounce "KY" is beyond me. My intuition says that "KY" IS "Kai".

Semantics.

I still prefer to say it as "kyme" (as in rhyme), somehow.

Five pages on a few pronunciations?

Kim

CH(as in chair)im

Kime

Chime

Personally, I'm pretty sure it's Kim. It just seems more... natural.

heyoooooo!

Really? Because I view the idea much the opposite way. If the metaphysics of the Arena (that is Mundus) were to work in that fashion then surely the chrysalis shells of both the original Convention and the Altmeri Mirror Logicians would crumble completely. Not to mention that Akatosh-as-we-usually-know-him would be utterly lost due to the Hurling Disk effect which is caused by the apotheosis of one when they achieve the aforementioned idea that is the ancient sigil connoting 'royalty', 'starlight', and 'high splendor' which constantly distorts itself.

So you see, the PJJJJ idea in and of itself completely refutes your statement as if it were true we'd all be resorting back to the negalithic refusatronic world-navel-gazinism of the Dwemer (which frankly we aren't, so it can be concluded that your statement is false). And for the last time before we all zero-sum and evaporate as the moth priests, it is 'kim', end of discussion.

You're kidding right? What was that? a collective technical terms that add up to nothing more than a debasemant of logic?

As for PJJJJ... what's it stand for?

I believe it's pronounced "Kaim" as in "Chimera", the Greek beast composed of a lion's head, a goat's torso, and a dragon's hind. This, I believe is the basis of the race "Chimer" (Changed People) in both spelling and meaning (meaning that the Chimera had different parts just as the Chimer changed / became different). :talk:

P.S. I think it's a cool word, especially with a 'K'. B)

Hmm...

Too bad a developer has stated that it's "Kim..."

And too bad this has been said above...

Yes, but you can't expect him to read the whole thread, can you? Or even the whole first page?

Nooo, that wasn't sarcasm...

Right. Good point.

Well, sorry. Maybe I'm too lazy to read the first post.

And maybe I thought I was on to something with the Chimera.

And maybe I should shut up now.
