Is the proximity alarm nerfed or glitched?

Post » Tue Jan 26, 2010 8:30 am

Topic.

Obviously it's changed since the demo, but I do occasionally hear a squeak from it, and knowing this game is riddled with audio issues, wondered if a cry-mod had said whether it's glitched or not, or has just been nerfed massively.

Also, as they now go up to 8 levels rather than 3, does it keep getting effective? I'm at 2 at the moment and I can't see any difference.

Mine doesn't work, not any noises.
So much for audio warning.

Well, guess i'll just keep levelling it to level 3 in case it gets patched, then i'll move on to something else. Not sure what though... Energy transfer maybe?

Threat Tracer seems like it'd be a suitable replacement in terms of target aquisition, but it seems more built for snipers. I'm more a stealthy CQC type, and in a close range firefight I image it'd just get far too confusing.

It works. You hear a tinny noise, once you level it to 2 I think. Its a definite noise and its clear enough. But I think the demo version was better as sometimes you can mistake the noise for distant gun fire and visa versa. It also seems to sometimes be a bit random on the distances it will pick enemies up from.

I still like it, but sometimes you hear it going off like crazy and panic a little, when you'd probably be better off not knowing the enemy is there and just reacting!

it only works when you're not using cloak.

Really? Well that explains why I only hear it now and again!

Seeing as I spend 90% of my game cloaked, looks like it's time for me to switch...

It definitely absolutely works when I'm cloaked!

i can't 100% confirm this, but that's what seemed to be happening to me. worked fine when i wasn't in cloak. i switched to threat tracer because of this, and now i use energy transfer.

it works while cloaked, but the sound changed... and the actual proximity it starts making noise also was decreased (i think, cant give you any evidence, just from what I remember in demo)... The demo mode alarm was way better :T

It works better once you reach level 3. Also I've turned the music level down to 1 and dialogue down to 3. Game sounds are set at 10 and this has improved proximity for me.
