The real reason peope want Survival sleep saves toggleable

Post » Fri Mar 04, 2016 3:45 am

It's basically mostly PC users who are using mods that aren't using the Official creation Kit so their games crash more, corrupted by these dodgy mods. I have no worries about stability on PS4,only 1 crash in nearly 500 hours. Why should console users get a watered down Survival mode because PC players couldn't wait for the creation Kit?

While the dodgy mods do make the issue worse, the bugs in the game itself can cause corrupted saves, giltched quests, etc. That's the main reason, not the dodgy mods.

Keep in mind that just because you haven't suffered from issue this doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

Flame Removed

I'm a console user and by having an OPTION, I can change the setting to whichever I prefer.

This benefits EVERYONE!

I'm looking forward to mods coming to consoles. Specifically, the ones that clean up Ash/Goo Piles (which Bethesda seem incapable of doing), and the ones that clean up other dead bodies (Croup Manor still has dead Ghouls, Kingsport Lighthouse still has dead Atom followers) and Skeletons.

Every game that has a sorta ironman mode, will have bugs or glitches that can kill progress. Look at hardcoe in D3 and the instability of the servers; get lag, get your max level character that has 100's of hours of playtime killed. Do the devs. change anything about the difficulty for those reasons? No.

Point being..there's always going to be the possibility of dying or losing progress to something out of the players hands in any game, it's no reason to not include, and option-able, difficulty. If you feel your time isn't worth the investment that this change brings, don't play on it. Don't ask the devs to forget about it and not include it as there are many people who look forward to this change.

Actually, your save files don't get corrupted anymore.

The corrupted one is the one additionally created for the "Continue" option upon quitting the game. It's still a bug, but of a different nature. The last manual-, auto- or quicksave are always intact.

At least on the Xbox One, that is.

I don't think people are asking the video game developers to forget about it.

Having toggleable options in a way defeats the purpose of using Survival Mode the way it should be used or the way Todd Howard wants it to be used.

While the mentioned issues certainly exist, i've played on PS4, with all the save options off, without any issues so far. Been lucky i guess. In-game time (save file description) is showing 18d 6h 28min. It's amazing actually, considering on PS3 i had to hard reset the console at least 3-4 times per day when playing FO3/NV. Still, about 1500h+ combined on both, on a PS3 :)

Bethesda Game Studios having developed Fallout 4 on the PlayStation 4 (PS4) should be more stable than Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas is on the PlayStation 3 (PS3), because the PlayStation 4 (PS4) uses easy to program for x86 PC architecture.

The PlayStation 4 (PS4) does not have that cell architecture video game developers outside of SONY's first party video game developers had problems with.

No, I agree, we shouldn't have features on an on-off switch. The only option-able switch should be Survival or regular difficulty that can only be set to on one time per character. Selecting what parts of Survival you want really defeats the purpose of a Survival-type difficulty. There would be no point. Nor would being able to change to a different difficulty and back to Survival anytime you want.

I imagine Bethesda will know which mods have used the Creation Kit and will only authorise those

The Ops point falls flat on it's face when you take into account the fact that the game can crash using mods that were made with the official tools. Skyrim, New Vegas, Fallout 3, Oblivion and Morrowind had plenty of crashing issues from using mods made with the Construction Set/Geck/Creation Kit.

In fact, I'm guessing this is more of a 'I can't enjoy these lovely mods, so I'm going to use them as a stick to beat people who want an option' kind of post.

I think the real reason people are arguing against having the option to enable/disable the save restriction is because they have no self control and don't think they would be able to avoid changing it the moment it got a little tough for them.

Agreed. Maybe include a sissy..ehm.. a "custom" difficulty for those, that can't handle the survival mode as is.

This.

Most HC players can usually get a new character up to max level again in no time usually less than a couple of hours if not less than an hour. Players will have back up gear and Paragon Levels to make it easier to level.

Bethesda games are quite often quite buggy and sometimes the unofficial patches are needed to fix many of the bugs and glitches and hopefully makes it more stable with or without other mods. Consoles are usually buggier especially on the PS3.

I have had no crashes on either the PC or Xbox One version of FO4 but others are having issues on all versions of the game.

-------------

I am fine if they bring in no saves except for sleep. I usually play Bethesda games Dead is Dead.

I've had deaths as a result of bugs on PS4. I simply don't want to lose large chunks of progress over these things. Plus I'm sure others are experiencing regular crashing anyway.

Well, if PC users are going to mod their game to hell and back, then I'm sure they're going to download a mod that removes the restriction if a toggle doesn't exist.

Not for me.

Real life comes first, crashes and a gameplay need to reload (e.g. glitched quest) are my needs.

Play on Xbox One, get at least 1 crash or need to reload per gaming session.

No to no Quicksave

No to no Fast Travel

This thread is so dumb it hurts, as Motsie said, if PC users want the save restriction gone they'll just get rid of it. With mods.

Can people stop using the real life comes first excuse? I only get one hour of gameplay time every day due to work and family. One hour of gameplay time playing video games is nothing.

And I'm ok with the no Fast Travel and save only while you sleep.

This.^

@lovefool35 :

"What's the point if you can remove the challenge?! WAAAHH!!"

Heads up, genius. The "Achievements/Trophies" in the game can be unlocked at ANY difficulty! Furthermore, nobody gives a rat's ass about "E-Male genitalia measuring" anymore. Achievements are falling out of fashion, most of my Achievement Hunter friends simply do not care anymore and neither do I.

It's not Dark Souls, and even if it was, that game wasn't difficult at all. Everyone I know who has the game, also has the full 1000G.

If you simply want to "challenge yourself", don't change the option.

Unlocking Achievements is tedious work, and it's rarely difficult, just time consuming. There's no way on Earth, no matter what they do with Survival/hardcoe mode, that it'll ever be "that" difficult, so the point would be in making it interesting and having the ability to toggle modifiers rather than just having a dumb "R U TUFF ENUFF?" mode.

If you're playing Fallout 4 for a challenge, you're doing it wrong. Even then, YOU'RE GOING TO GET THE OPTIONS ANYWAY!

So quit complaining and go be all you can be, son. Nobody will be giving you a medal either way.

I love video games A LOT. What just because I haven't purchased Fallout 4 yet I can't talk about it?

Am I supposed to stay quiet? Or go Anti-Video Game?

I love very much to discuss stuff about video games.

No, but you can stop with the telling us the best way to play it and that it'll be so much better with save restrictions, no fast travel etc.

Discussion is good, but it's like the weapon/armor degradation your always going on about (Which was a naff feature and utterly pointless) You're convinced it would make Fallout 4 better, but how do you even know when you haven't even given the game a chance without it?
