very very interesting, if it works a theorized
whats others opinions?

Still waiting for physical stuff not drawings
then their was http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/134688-Science-Discovers-Method-Of-Turning-Light-Into-Matter from about a month ago..
it seems every year we are getting closer and closer to Star Treks technology lol
Maybe one day man will see it, maybe even within the next 100 years (or sooner) but I'll bet we won't be seeing it in my lifetime.
nor mine, I just find the whole concept fascinating
Not to far from the one use in the Star Trek series---> http://www.startrek.com/uploads/assets/articles/USE-Ring-Ship-1.jpg
If you are interested in space ships http://www.projectrho.com/public_html/rocket/realdesigns.php
With warp-drive, the ship isnt moving. There is NO inertia for the passengers, that's the beauty of it all. It would feel the same as being on the ISS. Same applies for heat buildup. There is none. For all intents and purposes, the ship is staying still.
It's hard to wrap ones head around. Granted you'd still need artificial gravity to prevent bone and health problems (best way is centrifugal force).
It needs engine to move forward through field and something about radiating everything infront of bubble when done
I was under the impression no impulse or propulsion was needed because the warp field was expanding in the back and contracting in the front. I may need to re-read some articles :/

if it doesnt take you to the question the it starts at 49:43
yay for the skies of arcadia avatar to the topic we did just about get replicators recently.... so who knows as long as we can do it before picard dies .
And then there's the part where some scientists have theorized that the Alcubierre (sp?) drive would cause a massive blast of radiation that would mangle whatever was in front of the ship when it arrives.
That'll make conquering new civilizations and stealing their resources so much easier!
Why can't they go simplier and whip up a Stargate or something that makes Einstein Rosen Bridges.
"The current theory involves bending space in a way that doesn't actually move the ship so much as all of time and space around it. "
Is it just me, or does this sound completely ludicrous?
I really don't see how it's easier to move the universe rather than one ship. Wouldn't this be kind of like sailing from England to America on a ship that remains stationary while moving the planet around it?
And on another, more wrooying note...
If something goes wrong with the engine, which explodes: The ship, or the rest of the universe that the engine's manipulating?
Yes, we're doing some important stuff with all this money
