The reason my friend hates Oblivion

Post » Tue Aug 23, 2011 2:11 am

So my friend saw me playing OB and he was like "Aww that game looks sweet".

The next day he bought it. I asked him how it was, and he said he didn't play it anymore.
So I was confused, so I rode my bike to his house, and long story short... he has stolen a potato from a lady in a hut, and needless to say, got apprehended by the authorities. He was apparently so frustrated by this he simply quit, never to play again.

I just thought this was kinda funny, and I'd share my tale with the ES community.

People are strange. My old friend didn't like Morrowind cause of the graphics, but then later in the week he was like "OMG have you heard of mincecraft?"

Hey, potato theft is serious business. There was this ogre that. . . oh, anyway, I'm sure you told your friend, "If you can't do the time, don't do the crime." Right? :foodndrink:

It wouldn't surprise me if word about his potato-robbing activities actually moves from game to game. These things happen.

Or even the realworld. If I were him I'd avoid going anywhere near a spudfarm, if you know what I mean.

The guards in Oblivion take their role very seriously with absolute orthodoxy!

Theft is a crime, and crimes must be punished, no matter the magnitude!

ASSIMILATE THE EMPIRE! OBLITERATE THE CRIMINAL SCUM!. PROTECT AND SERVE!

...Yeah

I see what you did there.

My Mum's fiancé's son, who's only 14, refuses to play Oblivion because it's doesn't have enough fighting and violence in it. He likes Fallout 3/NV though. I am trying to teach the youngling the true ways of gaming.

Kids these days with their blood and their gore, they just can't appreciate the classics.

hey even certain classics have blood and gore! I totally laughed my ass off one time in a Doom 2 deathmatch where I fragged a buddy of mine with a rocket launcher just as he spawned onto a teleport destination pad and he spattered in all directions!

Even so though, Obllivion isnt exactly devoid of blood and violence.

I hope so, although I hope he enjoys it for more than just the improved combat. And he keeps referring to it as 'the next Oblivion' which bugs me even more so.

Oh most definitely, classics are welcome to blood and gore, it's just when people only play a game for the violence it disappoints me.

And you're right, Oblivion has plenty of blood and violence, just not enough to keep his attention unfortunately.

Your friend stole potatoes from a hut?

Is he about eight feet tall, 600 pounds of muscle, big hands, floppy ears, wears a loin cloth and makes noises like a camel? Because I might have seen him.

Don't even get me started on Unreal. It was like Doom, with tons of other weapons and enemies.
