RP: The reclaim for Canterbury

Post » Thu Aug 19, 2010 7:27 pm

This is an RP that I will be hosting. I will not participate in it though, maybe do some storytelling here and there without mentioning any of the participants.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Prologue

It had to happen sometime or another. With all those investments in the shops, Canterbury Commons had grown out as one of the main trading places for the entire Capital Wasteland.
It attracted dozens of merchants to settle or trade with Lucky Harrit, Crow, Doc Hoff and Crazy Wolfgang who had opened their own shops and retired from the Caravans.

Business went well. Something of an economic system started to evolve with Uncle Roe as the owner and investor.
But it wasn't only honest traders that came to do business. Small unorganized attacks were spawn upon Canterbury.
The security could hold them off, but soon the attacks grew larger, more frequent and more organized.

Now the Entire Canterbury Commons is overrun. With Harrit, Crow, Hoff and Wolfgang held hostage, the criminals who call themselves 'The Black Hand' are after Uncle Roe's fortune.
But Roe won't give up without a fight. He has money and with money you have power.
So he hired a group of specialists to fight off the Black Hand, offering them a very handsome amount of caps for it.

"Get in there, find out who's organizing this, take them out and save the traders!"
The message was clear and simple, but would the Specialists remain true to Roe?
We're about to find out.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You start off at the Old Robot repair center (RRC), not far away from Canterbury itself.
The RRC has limited supplies, would the group be in need of any. Nothing big, but a place to fall back on.
There may be more survivors in Canterbury, though it is unlikely.
http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Canterbury_Commons: Though things have changed, the same characters still live there. (Except for the Mechanist and the Antagonizer who were killed by the Lone wanderer, 6 years ago.)
Minimum RP'rs: 6 Maximum RP'rs: 10

Character Sheet:

Name: Whatcha called?
Gender: Man / Woman?
Physical Appearance: What do you look like? Facial and body appearance. (Ghouls and Humans only)
Armor/Clothing: Some wear them, some do not. (Power armor possible, but will restrain person a lot from running and dodging.)
Weapons/Ammo: 3 Weapons at max. (Or one big gun with limited ammo and a small weapon) Ammo: indication, does not have to be accurate. (Remember, you are packed for assault, so it is normal you bring enough.)
Medication: You can hold a few stimpacks, Radaway, Buffout, etc. But not more than 10 in total.

Specialization: Why were you hired, what are you good at? (Infiltration, Sniping, Close combat, Interrogating, etc.)
Downsides: Everybody has them. What do you svck at, or do you have an addiction or something? Be creative!

Bio: A short description of the character, where's he/she from, what are his or her motives, why need the money? or is there more to it?

Rules:
  • No Ubering
  • No Character killing.
  • Max of 2 posts a day
  • No 2 posts after each other, wait for your fellow RP'rs to post a few.
  • Do not post less than about 6 lines, do not post more than about 25 lines. (guidelines)
  • Try to let the story flow, don't contradict everything the other RP'rs post and be creative!

I'll start the story off as Uncle Roe who will give you instructions.
Maybe I'll post a few story chapters to lead it in a good direction, but try to be creative and come up with some good twists (but not 5 twists in one post!)

Name: Michael Reed
Gender: Male
Physical Appearance: Michael is a pre-war Ghoul; he's been around for quite some time and his appearance shows it. His face is bad, even for a Ghoul. The years of fighting have taken their toll and made their mark in the form of scars. Despite his age, he still has a small amount of hair on his head that pretrudes from his blistered scalp. He isn't the biggest guy, he's is in fact rather lean in terms of muscle and build making him less suited for close combat but better for movement. His eyes are the thing most people notice. They give off a feeling of age, of loss and of experience.
Armor/Clothing: Michael wears a simply white t-shirt with sandy cargo pants generally. But that's not all. He has modified most parts of his attire with armour. His knees are protected by some steel especially moulded to his knee. His boots are steel-toe capped just encase anything gets to close and needs a good kick. He has a make-shift shoulder-pad that extends from his waist up to his shoulder before finishing with a metal plate. Along the stretch of leather that holds it in place he has a variety of different ammo types and a few grenades. His belt itself wields a few pouches with supplies and yet more ammo.
Weapons/Ammo: Dragunov Sniper Rifle with a fairly large amount of ammo, a 10mm submachinegun with a couple of clips, a combat knife, a few frag grenades
Medication: A handful of Mentats to help with aim, around 4 stimpacks and some Buffout to help with recovery

Specialization: Long-ranged combat skill, high quality infiltration skill and good local knowledge
Downsides: Not particularly fast due to age and a bad leg, is known to disobey orders and change his objectives slightly

Bio: Michael Reed was a soldier before the bombs fell and after they did fall, he became a Ghoul. All of his friends up at Anchorage were killed. He vowed to find his way home and find his family. After years of searching and surviving, he found his old home. Unfortunately, what he found inside were the cowering skeletal remains of his wife and daughter under the half destroyed staircase. He cried for hours. Eventually, he mustered enough courage to leave and begin anew. He blanked his past and decided he would become a mercenary to make use of his military skills as a sniper and to earn a living. After decades of fighting, he eventually settled down in Canterbury Commons as a merchant selling weapons. His life was to be disturbed once more when 'The Black Hand' took over Canterbury Commons. Michael managed to escape and has come out of retirement to save his home.

Name: Goliath
Gender: Man
Physical Appearance: A 6'8" giant of a man, heavily tattooed and so many Nordic, Celtic, and Simoan origin tattoos you'd think he was a raider. His build is very muscular if not downright bulky. Despite this, stamina is quite good. Hair is dark brown, thick and down to his mid-back with a few dread locks, he also sports a very thick beard that goes ear to ear. Eye color is dark brown, skin is lightly tanned with a few red patches on his face, collar bone, and arms.

Armor/Clothing: Clothing is a very thick mish mash of different fibers, woven into pants, a shirt, and thick mucklucks as well as a heavy robe. Armor consists of a briastplate taken from a suit of broken power armor, as well as the gloves and pauldrons. Goliath wears a balaclava over his face.
Weapons/Ammo: 1911 Colt .45 [8 clips, 72 rounds] - Mosin Nagant Sniper Rifle [150 rounds] - Lever-action Sawed-off Shotgun [80 shells] Fireman's Axe.

Medication: 4 Stimpacks, 2 Radaway, 5 Med-x, Bandages, 1 Jet

Specialization: Close combat, excels at Marksmanship, Survivalist Extraordinaire, Medication, Tracking.
Downsides: Raving alchoholic, terrified of radscorpions, and can sometimes go into a 'bloodlust' where he can't distinguish friend from foe when in close combat.

Bio: A humble and rather quiet man. Goliath grew up as a Raider to the Blood Seeker clan, who were known for their warriors called Golems, who were massive men that made exquisite fighters due to their secret breeding techniques. Goliath was a prize warrior and son of the clan chieftain. However, after a fateful and long, bloody war with the Brotherhood of Steel, Goliath left his clan hoping to make a living further north as a mercenary. He found great work in the state of Michigan, fighting for a large company of Wasteland weapons manufacturers who would supply him with weapons, armor, and money, so long as he worked for them.

Using every bit of knowledge he could to further himself, and he does possess great knowledge, because Golems were not only great warriors but they were also well educated. Goliath killed many foes and became a bit of a hero in those parts, earning a legendary status with the locals as a "Good Giant". Eventually he left his employers after they declared he had made the area safe and they could hire the locals and supply THEM with weapons to protect themselves and the area.

He needs the money to buy a running boat from the job in order to buy a working boat, which he restored himself, near Rivet City. With it, he'll go far up north to a place called Newfoundland with his small band of exiled raiders who share his ideals and kind heart.

Name: Deven Michaels/Professor
Gender: Man
Physical Appearance: He suffers from painful sores all over his body brought on by Troglodyte Degeneration Contagion. Though people rarely see his face under his gas mask.

Armor/Clothing: Self-made http://morriperkele.deviantart.com/art/Red-118553993 with leather armor and radiation resistant material integrated with it. A gas-mask with functional air and water purification system.

Weapons/Ammo: A lawn mower blade made into a machete, a pair of long metal pipes sharpened into spears, an unusually well sharpened chinese officer sword, and a single whetstone

Medication: Two Stimpacks

Specialization: Survivalist, Bladed Weapons, armor maker
Downsides: His survival suit works like a charm, but it can only take so much. He's fine if shot with a pistol, but you pull out a mini-gun and he's screwed. His gas mask can also interfere with his sight, making him vunerable to getting attacked from behind. Deven may sometimes have flashbacks of his time under the Pitt Raiders.

Bio: A long time ago, he was a scientist from far to the north. Upgrading peoples armor for a price. One day his clients were slavers who didn't feel like paying, and Deven found himself in The Pitt. He learned a whole new set of skills as he slowly died in that disgusting place. The Mill taught him that the mind is the best weapon. He proudly claims to be the only slave who avoided eating the [censored] slop they served by using the slop as bait for radroaches ,and on a lucky day, molerats. And when he was sent to the Steelyard to die like so many others, he found his whetstone and made knives that got him back every time. With his skill at armor making he slowly made a survival suit piece by piece until he went into the Steelyard one day, and never came back.

The survival suit had everything he needed to go through the most uninhabitable parts of The Pitt where even Trogs wouldn't go. Eventually Deven escaped The Pitt half starved and exhausted. He wandered the waste some time after that. Trying to get a hold of himself, and answer questions. Why did he survive when so many others couldn't? Should he have tried to save others? Was all he did just running scared?

As the months went by, his wanderings led him to the Capital Wasteland . This was an entirely new region to him, and he had no idea where to go. Unfortunately, the first place he finds is Canterbury Commons, where a nice group of raiders mistake him for a mercenary. Go figure.

Thank you Wasteland Scholar.
As you PM'd me, you will not begin at the RRC, but in the sector of the black hand.

As many of you may have noticed, there has been a sudden explosion of RPs on this forum.
In my experience, that'll mean one of two things:

-the RPs tend to get stranded very fast.
-The quality of the RPs will degrade quickly.

Now, I'll make sure that (if there will be enough sign-ups) this will go into the right direction.
I think we need 3 more sign-ups to start, it'll be enough to go on in the beginning.

Considering I'm slipping back into a more regular timetable now, I'll be able to write more often and provide a higher quality of said writing. If you need a hand with anything Lavanoth (ideas etc.) just PM me and I'll do what I can. This should be good.

Well I'll certainly try my best to make this RP colorful. You're right to wait for more people to sign up. I've been in so many RP's that just fall apart after one person leaves. I've also noticed something weird before. If someone doesn't take their turn to post, everything just freezes.

Name: John Wang
Gender: Male
Race: Asian (Chinese)
Physical Appearance: 5.8 feet tall, around 29 years old, and has short black hair
Armor/Clothing: http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Pre-war_Businesswear and sunglasses.
Weapons/Ammo: Silenced 10mm pistol (4 clips), combat knife, assualt rifle (8 clips)
Medication: Kilo (5) of pyscho

Specialization: John is able to think on his feet and is an incredibly good at making plan. Born naturally smart he has gained plenty of practice through the underworld of wasteland crime that he is best fitted for the brains of the rescue operation. Also enjoys interrgoating and has done it enough to be a professional.
Downsides: Addicted to drugs. He may go out when you need him most.

Bio: John Wang was born up north to the Common wealth. Born into the wealthy crime organzation known as the Glowing Dragons (Similar to the Triads in our world.) He has grown attached to his life of organized crime. When he was about 20 he moved operations down to the New York City Wastelands (Where it is rumored his true intentions were to rebuild the chinatown.). So far he has made the Glowing Dragons one of the most powerful organzations in the wasteland, even being able to revive some what of a goverment in the new england area. And now he heads south to the Washington D.C. area but as of now it is unknown why.

John Wang seems to be a cool and brilliant leader. He is very rich and wealthy, and has a sense of humor. He also seems to have some what of a deranged mind as he enjoys toture. And even feels the need to continue toturing even after they've confessed. He is very well equipped with coming up with smart and elaborate plans, and will stay focused on any job till the job is done. As a child and into advlthood he has been very addicted to chems, and will take them out at random times and do them causing his judgement to become clouded and may cause him to stop being focused on his job. He is also good at sneaking to take out enemys rather than fighting them head on.

Name: James Douglas
Gender: Man
Physical Appearance: 5'6," black hair, 22 years of age, average looks, nothing wrong with his face or body since he is young
Armor/Clothing: Slaver clothes and other random parts of clothing he could find
Weapons/Ammo: Silenced 10mm pistol (2 clips), trench knife, a custom made rapier-esque knife that has no edges (blade is a cylinder shape) with a sharp point on the end, used for heart and throat kills and quick penetration
Medication: a few stimpacks

Specialization: James is a master of stealth and close combat, able to infiltrate even the heaviest guarded facilities with ease.
Downsides: Horrible shot. He can't shoot a fly two inches away from him with a 12 guage. (Which he tried once and broke his arm from not handling the gun properly)

Bio: James's story is nothing special. He grew up in Canterbury, his parents were merchants. When he was 14 his parents were killed transporting goods, and all of the families caps were taken in the attack. James left Canterbury looking for work, and after he was unsuccesfull at finding work, drifted from town to town taking part in various underground activities such as robbery and assassinations. He usually stays in a town until he is either kicked out or hunted out, and the last town he was staying at he was kicked out for a botched assassination attempt. ( Not contracted ones, just ones where he wanted to steal and could only kill the owners to get the items.) He prefers not to kill.

Name: Ted

Gender: Man

Physical Appearance: Ted never stood out in any which way. Eyes a very unremarkable green, short brown hair, and an appearance that could range from 30-40 depending on the lighting and his particular amount of sleep. In short, you would be hard pressed to pick him out from any other group of wastelanders.

Armor/Clothing: Ted's standard wear is regular wasteland wanderer outfitting. He changes his clothing depending on the situation at hand.

Weapons/Ammo: Nothing but a combat knife and a 10mm pistol hidden on his person. He picks up weapons on-site. His fists are usually enough.

Medication: N/A

Specialization: Ted is an expert at observing a person, and basically becoming that person, making him the perfect infiltrator. He basically picks a person with a mask on, learns his actions and mannerisms, kills him, and then takes his place. He is an expert at interrogation, as well as hand-to-hand combat.

Downsides: Ted knows nothing outside of what comes naturally from him. He is good in conversation, and can reference anything since his memory started over, but he can't do anything like heal, repair, work computers, pick locks, disarm explosives, anything outside of his specialty.

Bio: Ted knows nothing of his past. He doesn't even know if his name is John. All he knows is that he was a horrible man. Without trying, he remembers all the actions of people he spent prolonged periods of time around. He can copy exactly the way a person scrunches their face when they think or squint their eyes when they look towards the sun. And he has no idea why. Cursed with the unknowing of what he has done, he decided to help people with his talent. He started a missing persons agency out of his home. He would take pictures and go out into the wasteland looking. When he heard of the issue at Canterbury Commons, he decided to join the specialists in their operation.

Bio: James's story is nothing special. He grew up in Canterbury, his parents were merchants. When he was 14 his parents were killed transporting goods. All of the families caps were taken in the attack (83,000, which had been invested in the sold stock). James left Canterbury looking for work. After unsuccesfull at finding work, he found the Specialists (don't know if thats the group name or not) whos only job offering was the stealth field at the time. One of the members knew James' parents from before, and after James explained his situation they accepted him. After he joined he honed his stealth skills. He prefers not to kill and will only kill if someone is preventing him from his mission or if they could put his mission is jeopardy.

Good bio, only one thing: Roe hires various specialists from around the wasteland, so the "specialists" (Which is a great name) Don't know each other. They were just hired as individuals, who were in for the money or something else. So your boi is accepted, but can you change some parts, so it seems he went to Roe, explained everything and joins the Team Roe created without charging? (because his parents already had enough caps.)
((oh, and can you change 83,000 to 8,300? because 83,00 is probably something even Tenpenny doesn't have))

*snip*

Welcome Polishgamer, nice sheet. I love the Missing Persons Agency. Can make for some good twists.
Oh, but can you change your name though. Dark Fox already plays as a John (John Wang)
You could keep it, but then you need a last name. and you should use last name letter: John W. & John ?.

Then I'll post the Prologue in a new thread.
