The recommended class...

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 5:34 am

I was replaying the intro too OB and when I was recommended my class I kinda started too laugh. He was recommending the Warrior class, but I had only been using my spells. I didn't use anything that the warrior do, but still I was recommended to play one.
Have anyone else experienced this?

Yeah the other day with my new character I used only heavy armor and a sword, and was told I must be a barbarian.

The first few times I played Oblivion way back in 2006 I got bard every time.

He's only ever guessed properly once, with my Dunmer Spellsword. That's exactly what I wanted. Never before or since.

Standard, i think Baurus should stickl to fighting, as opposed to suggesting things :)

This vid sums it up, it's all funny, but halfway through sums up exactly what your talking about!

It's pretty funny

Nearly everybody gets the wrong class suggested to them. It is most likely just Beth making fun of us- like M'aiq the Liar.

Supposedly, from what I've heard before, there's some kind of formula they use to guess. It doesn't just go by the skills you choose but the things you pick up and equip during the tutorial.

Problem is some classes use the exact same combination and reportedly nobody has ever heard certain ones without using the console, even if they memorize the requirements and go out of their way to methodically get them.

Honestly though some of them completely escape me. I have NO idea how I kept getting bard so many times back in 2006. I also have no idea how wearing heavy armor and using a sword could possibly get me Barbarian, unless it was the lockpicking I kept doing...supposedly you get Barbarian if you level mostly combat skills, maybe one or two stealth and zero magicka in the tutorial which is what I did. But I wore heavy armor, not light.

I make it a hobby of mine..with my Dunmer Spellsword I constantly resurrect his body with the Staff of Worms just to beat him to death.

And yes, my Dunmer is the ONLY person Baurus ever guessed correctly, which is why I bothered to keep Baurus alive for once in the main quest. I usually don't really care if he dies or not, except for those blade tricks he can teach you which are useful.

It's a matter of pride, you see. He shames Rayles as a Dunmer. He makes Rayles feel like when people see a guy like Velen, they assign his attributes to all Dark Elves. And he can't accept that.

But he likes Baurus. Baurus seems smart, for a Redguard. "Congratulations, Yokudan. You've successfully identified a Spellsword. Will wonders never cease? Just so you know, I intend to completely ignore your Emperor's dying request for roughly two months while I join various guilds and kill hundreds of people."

It's actually been a long time since Baurus suggested his utter nonsense to me. I pretty much always make new characters from a save that I made at the other end of the tutorial dungeon, you know... the sewer pipe exit.

The lighting is somewhat better there for Facegen work, anyhow. :P

Probably. I got the wrong one too, don′t rememeber what it was now but I ended up making a custom. I usually do custom stuff in games anyway so I wasn′t that pissed at Baurus, nor Beth :foodndrink:

I used "the internets" to find out http://cs.elderscrolls.com/constwiki/index.php/GetIsClassDefault

As you can see, it's flawed and can't possibly guess what you're trying to go for accurately.

Awesome find Hairdo. :foodndrink:

It seems that if you do a 'bit of everything' the formula decides that you are either a bard or monk. I guess that explains that....

One time I was trying for argonian assassin and when it was at the part where he suggests the class he just said "I bet your experienced. Aren't I right"

I was like WTF???

He suggested Bard and Monk mostly for me. One time he did not have a suggestion like warman506 said. I started making my own custom classes completely ignoring him.

At the original poster.

I start a new character couple of nights ago and recommended Pilgrim but I did not use melee but I was sneaky though. I wanted to use magic this time. I picked Witchhunter.

At Hairdo Galosh Jam:-

I had a looked at that link so I know how it works now.

I suspect that the thing that throws off most players is that they are improving more stealth skills in the tutorial than they think they are, between sneaking and lockpicking.
