The Redguard faces are being completely ignored!

Post » Thu Aug 25, 2011 9:58 am

Then the one right next to him (top row, second from right) looks like the dude from the book The Cay (the blind guy).

You're thinking of Timothy. The blind dude was the white boy named Philip. (Yes, I still remember those two from a book I read waaaaay back in middle school.)

But yeah, now I want to make a young blind Breton boy (or teen) and name him Phillip Voltaire (as I'm assuming the two blind eyes aren't just for the redguards)

As to some thinking the Redguards are cannibals now. Dudes, WTF?! Some of them actually look like people I've met in my University! D=

Interesting that you went with NFL linebacker, as opposed to something like..investment banker.

Now why would that be?

He looks like a light-skinned P.Willis

Come on man, they strait, personally my redguard won't look like none of them, but they are realistic looking which is good. Plus no one has seen the high elfs an bretons.

Also someone made a comment about them not looking Mystical well you could say that, but what about Nords(Which were talked about.)? ...Yea I thought so.

I wish some of those presets looked a little more like people of African descent. I apologize if that seems racist, but it's the Redguard look I've been accustomed to, and to me the presets look like Imperials with darker skin.

Of course they're ignored. Like the Imperials, who are also getting little to no attention, they are human. All of the Mer and Beast races get attention because they're magical, and the Nords are intentionally hyped because it's Skyrim.

The fourth one in the top row (with two blind eyes) conjures mental images of Morgan Freeman.

I keep thinking, "Geordi? Is that really you? Did you somehow fall through a time warp and wound up in Tamriel circa 4E200?"

This is my post from an earlier thread, after seeing the presets:

I am not voting, as I liked them all. I will comment, however.

A few words come to mind:

Awesome! and Awesome! and Awesome!...

Thanks to all that is good in Heaven and Bethesda.

The biggest surprise, of course were the Altmer. Had not seen much of them.

I think I have found the Breton preset for Sibyl, my shaman-in training. The female Breton top left of screen, as a start, with a little tweaking.

Also, I believe I have found her hair style. Must still experiment. Of course I will study all the available ears, hairs, mouths, and do a nose count.

One female Nord makes me think of Sophia Loren, lol. I always imagined her as an imperial.

And whoa!, in the Redguard group, top far right of the screen, that preset is almost ready to go for my image of Sangria, my mystic.

I am still looking for my female bard, and my male, who will be Friar, or Brother Francois.

Needless to say, I was very pleased with this morning's surprise.

Thanks Bethesda, I'm loving the presets.

My Redguard will be one of those rare individuals that does not disdain, or distrust the mystic.

Even though racial stats are not in her favor, she believes in the mystic and magicka.

Among her people she is rare, but she is considered a strong medicine woman.

She is treated with respect, awe and even fear, because she is one who dares to trifle with the mystic.

This character has been mentioned in several other, older posts in which I have posted on this forum.

Every role playing game i play i tend to make a character that looks like me( im black) simply because its easier for me to roleplay and i get more involved with my character or should i say me....The point is i appreciate Bethesda giving the redgaurd actual features that represent this i hate playing games where my dark skin character can only have japanese hairstyles or hairstyles that would be impossible for black people to grow. This has to be the greatest customization i have seen towards dark skins in roleplaying games i have ever seen.

I love Redguards. They're my favorite Race (Though I prefer gameplay as a Bosmer, just suits my playstyle so much better) but I always make my second character a Redguard.

I actually find the Redguard presets to be best by virtue of all of the faces being consistently good (the Dunmer, on the other hand....). I can't really say the same for any of the other races. My personal favorite is second row, third column.

Anyone wanna try to make a Redguard female who looks like Grace Jones? (She played in the movie "Conan The Destroyer", a popular singer too)

I am looking forward to creating a Redguard character, actually. They look fantastic!

But I have always been quite fond of Redguards, so there you go. I agree though, that they look so much better now. That this applies to basically every Skyrim race does not detract from that.

Serious question: Is it because they are black people? I mean, if you think about it, a lot of people are white. And most people like to either role play someone that looks very similar to them, or something that's completely off the wall, like a lizard.

They just aren't a terribly exciting race. The Nords are the main race of the setting so they get a bunch of attention. Elves are innately mystical and have gone through a major overhaul. Orcs haven't gone through as major an overhaul but they are far less mundane and honestly how can human races be nearly as interesting aesthetically as beast races. It isn't because they're black and most of us are white, it's because they're human and we all know what humans look like so they aren't really that special. Bet you there will be 10 Redguard characters for every Altmer, though.

Everyone is talking about the beast races, the elves, and even Nords.

But no one is talking about the Redguards!

In my opinion, this is by far the most realistic looking group of preset faces.

I mean, look at top row center guy. Dude looks like a straight up NFL linebacker!

Then the one right next to him (top row, second from right) looks like the dude from the book The Cay (the blind guy).

On the second row, the first three guys look so realistic.

I think the redguards are easily the best looking of all the presets. They look so real!

I am probably the only one who will say this, but I might have switched my character choice TO a redguard after seeing this!

Here are the Redguard faces for reference:

I do agree with you, Redguards tend to make the best warriors in my opinion and they look amazing. BTW I think you mean Timothy, which is not the blind guy(forgot his name)

Wow, they look SOOO good. Best rendition, yet, I think.

P.S. Anyone notice the heterochromia in the eyes of the Redguard in the 2nd row, 2nd column? The customization looks amazing.
