The Redguard Pantheon.

http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1183242-is-lorkhan-good-or-bad/ got derailed, so I'm starting a discussion on this here. This is what we have so far, as well as some pretty clear (Taba, Morwha, and Zeht) equivalents.

Rupgta/Tall Papa: Magnus, The Leaper Demon King. He helps spirits avoid the hunger of Satakel by jumping (leaping) around, and he "places stars in the sky." He helps Sep/Lorkhan stop Satakel, as he helps the Greedy Man in Aldudagga. Usually identified by fans as Akatosh, but I've never seen evidence of this. This one is wrong.
Sep: Lorkhan. A "helper" of Tall Papa. May also be Alduin, but I'm not sure if I agree with that.
Akel: Padomay/Sithis. Technically a force. Not a god.
Satak: Anu. A force, not a god.
The Hum: Anuiel. A force, not a god.
Tava: Spirit of the Air, so she's Kyne.
Morwha: Mara.
Satakel: A mixture of Anu and Padomay. Also maybe the God of Time, who seems to lack a sentient equivalent.
Zeht: Zenithar.

Others mentioned in this topic by others:

Malooc: Malacath.
Tu'whacca: Arkay.

Seems right. I've also heard it said that the HoonDing is the enantiomorph, but I don't know enough to say. Crown and Sword, Rebel and King?

There's also Malooc, Malacath.
And Tu'whacca is the equivalent of Arkay.

If Tall Papa is equivalent to Magnus, which makes the most sense, I find that very interesting. He's their chief deity, but he's barely relevant in other cultures.
This seems like a weird variant of the Aldmeri reverence towards Auri-el; both are worshiped for annulling Lorkhan's creation. One through destruction, the other through escape.

I wonder how and why they stopped worshiping Shor, though.

And do the Redguard's wish to escape Mundus? They seem to consider it's creation a mistake, but I've never got the impression they're as hateful as the Altmer and Bosmer. And Tall Papa basically told them they have to find their own way out, and he won't really help them beyond punishing Sep.

Their beliefs are merrish, in that Mundus is a prison to escape from. However, they're mannish, in that they never believed to be super awesome kick ass gods before, and they have a similarish belief in time being a ravenous beast. In short, [censored] be whack.

The mannish pantheons are already all over the place. Imperials venerate a bunch of Aldmer gods but still like Shezarr, while the Bretons worship even more Aldmer gods but don't like Sheor one bit.

If Tall Papa is Magnus, the God of Sorcery, and the chief deity, then why do Redguards have such a prejudice against magic usage?

Theres also the Unknown Gods of War, as well as the HoonDing, Tall Papa's favorite son.

If only the Redguards hadn't done it to themselves first...

Velorien, I assume that's because Tall Papa is not the God of Sorcery. Magnus is, but the two aren't direct parallels.

Their beef is with Eastern (Tamrielic) Magic, the Ra'gada had their own form of magic in Yokuda, like the Sheshai.

I'd say the reason Magnus only really has a connection to magic is because he resided in the Aetherius before becoming Dagon. Alduin even says his only true ability is leaping around, and Tall Papa taught others to survive by jumping.

Waitaminute, Magnus and Dagon are aspects of the same spirit?

All the et'ada resided in the Aetherius.
Magnus' connection to magic is that magicka leaks to nirn from the Aetherius through the sun, the hole torn in the sky by his departure.

Even so, I'd say his connection to magic is mostly because of that.

I believe I ninja'd this thread earlier in the year. I too claimed Magnus as equivalent to Tall Papa, as I remember. But Tall Papa may very well have no equivalent. I also speculated that Leki could be seen as a sister of Meridia, if not Meridia herself, if indeed Ruptga and Magnus are equivalent. Onsi I suspect is equivalent to Ebonarm, who hasn't really had any screen time since Daggerfall.

It's possible that Ebonarm and Onsi are both just minor local deities.

Which is in direct parallel with the kind Devil Leaper King, who got away from Alduin's mouth by cutting corners and jumping, along with teaching others how to do the same. Then again, I just iterated a point you made, only with more clarity :P

Tall Papa as Magnus?

Syrsly?

Think raga. Then think of the various ways the Sun would affect the Weather/Eyeball/BodyClock/Agriculture/TheShineOfASingleDewdropBeforeAnImportantDuel.

Just how many gods would you have to govern acknowledge those?
