The Regulators in FO4

Post » Fri Nov 27, 2015 9:49 pm

Hi,

Ive just started to replay FO3 (after getting my computer to actually being able to run it!), and have come to the point where the Regulators have sent me some mail, and Ive started having fingers pop up in my raider/talon kills.

I remember when I played through this the first time, I was always wondering if there were more to the Regulators (in much the same way I thought there should be more to the Talon Company). Despite being told by the REgulators boss ( I never do remember her name, just the ordinary duster she gives me) that there were a lot of them out there, I dont remember ever seeing a single one.

Do we know if Karma is making a return to the wastes and if so are we likely to see the Regulators returned (I was always unsure if they were just a Capital Wasteland group or that there were over a larger geographical area). If not the Regulators than a similar group which rewards you for killing the raiders of the wastes (beyond repairing and selling the raider stuff).

I'd be surprised if the Regulators don't make an appearance in some capability.

Heck, I fully expect to run into the Talon Company Loot Pinatas.

Id love the functionality to be there to have a Settlement be a haven FOR Regulators. That would be awesome. By the same token if you were playing in a more 'bad' type of character, the same true for the Talon Company. Maybe they expanded to the Boston area.

(although it would be kinda amusing if the Talon Company was actually being sponsored and funded by the Institute)

People who pay me to put down the scum of the earth in exchange for fingers?

Where do I sign?

It depends on how the "law" in the Commonwealth works. If there is absolutely no "police" presence of any kind then the Regulators would fit in just fine, otherwise they serve no purpose

Im guessing the Regulators would have issues in the 'Civilised' areas, but probably not issue in the Boston Wasteland area. (which on size would be a lot bigger than the civilised area)

I think the Minutemen of this game might be the Regulators of Boston. Hopefully there won't be Albino Redscorps outside the hideout this time

The Minutemen maybe the Regulators of Boston. Or not. Either way is fine.

P.S. It was a DEATHCLAW out side Regulator HQ for me. Darn thing nearly had me, till I used the last of .44 ammo (5 Rounds btw).

Regulators HQ was funnily enough a place Talon Company always spawned for me. It was a guarantee.

At any rate, I hope there is a market for fingers in the Boston Commonwealth.

Man I hope so. After Skyrim they could implement radiant bounty quests too, which would be awesome

Regulators may show up in Boston, but keep in mind they may not have any relationship to the Capitol Wasteland Regulators. Regulators were a fairly common name for various vigilante organizations throughout the US (and some other English speaking countries). Hell, William Bonney rode with one Regulator outfit during the Lincoln County War before being declared outlaw.

As for not seeing them around the wasteland. Sheriff Simms is supposedly a Regulator, but this information comes from cut content so cannot be considered canon. If you want to see a lot of Regulators, just do an Evil Karma run through. You will be tripping over them every third step you take (they will be the ones hunting you and not Talon Company).

I would like to see them. I hope they flesh it out a bit but I would even take 3's system. If your going around shooting everything that moves people are going to talk about you and want you dead.

I'd rather they not return. The Regulators were only done interestingly in Fallout 1 where they were the corrupt police force of the Adytum, in Fallout 3 they were a half-assed made bounty hunter group and from what we've seen in Fallout 4 so far the settlements appear to have their own armed forces that would also police the settlements as seen with Diamond City, plus add in the BoS and commonwealth being there.

2 unrelated groups, who happen to share a very broad term as their title

Still, terribly made group that was really boring. I don't think they should be brought back (Same goes for most of the stuff from fallout 3) and that so far we see settlements having their own militia so a group of (badly made) bounty hunters shouldn't have a place.

I really need an explanation for "badly made", they had a job, they did their job, the end

I think Cider! is perhaps referring to the fact that they were poorly implemented into the game. Aside from selling them fingers.......they do absolutely nothing and are pointless, have no fleshed out stories or quests or anything behind them other than huh better go offload these fingers for caps and stuff

They hunt you if you are evil, with contracts taken out and everything. They are literally equivalent to the Mojave's Desert Rangers (pre-NCR Rangers)

They are literally just the polar opposite of Talon Mercs. Talon hunts you if your good, Regs if your bad. They are just random encounters, no different than running into raiders....or radscorpions....or any other random no name encounter you experience. Beyond that all you do is sell ears/fingers to them. No quests, no interesting stories, no interesting characters, almost no interaction whatsoever, nothing. They were half assed at best.

And they are only slightly similar to NCR rangers at best. NCR Rangers give you quests, are integral to the story, can be mad interacted with, destroyed, helped whatever. They have a bunch of interesting rangers and stuff. The regulators are a joke. Just like Cider! says, the most interesting Regulators were from Fallout 1 IMO

re-read my post: Desert Rangers are exactly like Regulators, NCR Rangers are Volunteer Elites troops from the NCR. Also how are a bunch of thugs who pretend to be guards more interesting than cowboy-esque bounty hunters who slay the wicked?

They are literally the exact same thing as the post NCR rangers as well. They were absorbed into that organization, because they did pretty much the exact same job as the NCR counterparts, they just were not part of the NCR.

http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Desert_Rangers

Edit

Ok well maybe not the EXACT same thing (considering the NCR does military actions etc), they were a protection force for people of the mojave from raiders and stuff. They were not bounty hunters, they were a police force. And after absorption their jobs became to defend hoover damn. They are stationed there as NCR rangers. So they are not the same. Regulators are bounty hunters. Not police. They don't protect towns or people, just hunt down evil people.

and again the fact that you can actually interact with them beyond 'here is some ears'.....they are not the same thing.
