The Replicated Man

I just finished stealing independance (whew),I got frusterated trying to find (whats his name) in Rivet City to learn more about the androied.
My science skill is just below 50,will that keep me from going where I need to go to find him?
If not, please tell me what simple thing am I overlooking (probably right in front of me) so I can continue.
just a nudge or a hint if you will...thankyou.

Hmm... do you have any holotapes about the android? I hear doctors and the like have them...
And you really need to talk to the guy who worked on the android. Highly recommended. All you need to meet him is some HARD SAVES, some rad away, and don't panic. He's in the Rivet City Area..... Have you met Victoria Watts yet? I'd keep a running set of saves throughout the course of this quest....

have you seen the quest giver who is located in the science lab part of the ship. the doctor is located on the top deck. there are signs that lead lead the way. you may have to open a unlocked door to see him. he won't always be in his office. daylight hours he should be there.

Also, if I recall, no one person is going to give you the information you need. You have to bring it up with pretty much everyone that it gives you the option about it, and eventually someone will give you a "big tip" towards finding out The Truth.

Thankyou so much for the way you people presented this to me.
I can answer yes to most of this and will look for more tapes and talk to more people.
Thankyou for not spoiling it.I think it's so cool that the answers are not right in front of me:-)

I do keep saves, about 7-9 average as I play. However It has been some time since I first began this quest.
Could I have killed this quest due to bad choices with dialog?

Where are you in the quest line? What does your journal say? I will not say more in this thread, as I don't want to spoil, but I can PM you, or you can start a new thread.

I am to search for clues leading to the missing androyd or tell Dr, (docters name here) that the androyd is dead.
So..without telling why,is the quest still good to go,or am I busted?

The quest is still active. How you want to proceed, then, is up to you. There are a number of people, especially in Rivet City, you can ask about the android, and you will eventually get a particular clue about someone -- also in Rivet City -- who can tell you more and stretches the quest out a bit more. Or, you can side with the Railroad, turn in the part you already have in your inventory, and end the quest entirely.

Thanks so much!!!
No I don't want to end the quest.I want to poke around and figure it out.
It's good to know I haven't done anything to ruin it.I don't care how long it takes me.
I really am loving how this game is put together.
Thankyou all for your great help.

Glad you completed it to your satisfaction! And there's nothing wrong with having to ask for help now and then ;) To be fair, I had to use a walkthrough to complete that part of this quest (but that was the second time I was doing this quest).

Other than the "very hard" locked door? Yes.

Spoiler
On the broken side, under water, there is a door. It takes some finding, and swimming...bring Rad-X and/or a radiation suit :)

Yup, just remember that there are air pockets. And, now that you have completed the quest, let me just say:
Spoiler

1. If you flip the switch at the front door, mind all the friggin booby traps, that door to the Broken Bow will always be unlocked for you, and you won't need 100 lockpick anymore, as it will be open for you.
2. There is a way to complete this quest and receive both good and bad rewards to the quest.

You can (spoiler for benefit of others)(SPOILER FOR QUEST END):

Spoiler
1. Run to Harkness, save your game
2. Tell him that the people are Zimmer and his guard. Tell him that you will off them for him. He will authorize you to kill Zimmer and his bodyguard, this makes sure that RC guards don't draw down on you. He will give you his special and awesome plasma rifle to do the job.
3. Run to Zimmer.
4. Tell him that Harkness is the android. Get the combat perk. Get bad karma too.
5. As Zimmer and guard slowly walk away, kill them. Get good karma.

If you don't choose the right speech option (cause there is a way to mess up), just reload your save.

So far I don't think I've even been there yet.
I picked up the quest somewhere else from a guy who....collects things.

If you want to make the quest more rewarding and harder, DO NOT talk to Victoria.

Sometimes you don't have a choice. I Fast-travelled to Big Town and suddenly she was there! She force-talked to me and that was that. I got the doohickey, but that doesn't mean I'll use it. After she gave me said item, she hightailed it out of there. Where will she end up after that?

I did this quest the "good" way my first time through. This time I'm going to try Big Daddy's solution(and get both "good" and "bad" rewards). I just wish Victoria wouldn't just repeat the old "What are you waiting for? Give Zimmer the doohickey!" line even though I completed the quest! Is that a bug or do I have to drop the item and then talk to her again?

She confronts you no matter what, if you start asking around about the holotapes. However, as others have stated, her strong suggestion about how to resolve the quest is just an option and by no means a requirement.
