The return of Duck and Cover

I'm so glad I live in a country that probably will never get bombed.
Unless someone goes, "Hey! We forgot about them!" And aims a nuke at us for the heck of it.

France?

I see. Written by a New Zealander? If not, that's rather surprising. I always get a kick out of seeing little old NZ mentioned in international literature. Except for when Sergei Lukyanenko called LOTR an "American movie" in whichever book it was. I digress.

Our policement aren't armed and the air force possesses about 3 helicopters and one ancient Hercules that may be falling apart, and our navy has perhaps one boat. If mutants swarmed the place, we'd be screwed. Hell, if anything swarmed the place, we're screwed.
John Wyndham is English, actually. It's a post-Apocalyptic type story (with a more successful Apocalypse than Fallout) and Labrador in Canada and New Zealand were selected as being both remote enough to have survived and basically on completely opposite sides of the world (for story purposes). New Zealand is apparently the most advanced society on Earth in the book, and the only one to have progressed from the time of the war.

It's a good book if you are into Sci-Fi.

This actually made me laugh out loud for a good amount of time! I might check this book out because the idea of New Zealand being advanced is absolutely wonderful. I'm amazed New Vegas came out here before... either China or Korea, I can't actually remember now... as we're usually the last to get anything. Especially anything under the category of "advanced technology." Hence why I feel pretty safe here. We don't have any weaponry or anything that makes us even remotely threatening and we have a prime minister who's favourite past time is svcking up to important people.

France?

I bloody wish!

*Edit* that didn't get censored. Is it not considered a swear word? Should I censor it myself? I hate moral dilemmas...

Forum follows mainly North American language rules. Hereabouts, "bloody" is actually considered a non-offensive substitute for the offensive swear words.

Essentially it's like you swore in te reo or something. Distance makes it practically a different language altogether. You and people near you will understand that it is strong language, but people in NA will tend to think you already censored yourself.

www.tor.com/blogs (the science fiction publisher's blogs) has a post labeled Ducked and Covered: A Survival Guide to the Post Apocalypse by Nathaniel Lindsay. Its a comedy vimeo by Nathaniel Lindsay that could have been seamlessly added to any of the FO's. Its set in Australia, the original wasteland (i.e., Mad Max land).
