The Rifleman's Lament

Post » Sat Apr 16, 2011 6:06 pm

I'm playing Fallout 2 again with a soldier character who only uses assault rifles and sub-machine guns, but around level 13-15, I started to realize that I was doing less and less damage in comparison to my allies, so I found myself ditching my FN-FAL and my AK-112 for a Pancor shotgun.

After awhile, my P90 just ended up out-performing my assault rifles on every level except for range, which I now use my Pancor for. I find it supremely odd how not even my FN-FAL could take on higher leveled armored targets yet my P90 could. Even the AK-112 with AP ammo on burst mode couldn't punch through Enclave power armor (AP ammo, as I read afterwords, is pretty much useless).

Basically, my companions are making me feel like the odd one out in combat, as I do little damage at long range, cannot fight armored targets, and literally have to be close as hell to maximize my damage dealing with burst mode.

Anyone else think that besides the G11E, assault rifles are really useless in Fallout 2?

If I recall correctly AP ammo is bugged and does not reduce a target's armor, for ALL ammo types.

Ya, what I was going to say.^^^
On fallout 2, AP ammo is inferior to regular ammo.

Do you have Killaps patch or Killaps Restoration Project?
If not... You should have gotten them...

Fallout 2 is a very buggy game, and a lot of stuff is fixed in his two projects.

solution:
step 1: download dead money if youre a 360 user
step 2: get a BAR
step 3: raaaaaaape anything that turns hostile with its 42 damage per shot/nearly 400 dps :D

orrr if your a different console user...
step 1: complain until dead mone or another DLC comes out to your console
step 2: THEN get the BAR

Fallout 2 =/= 360 =/= Dead Money.

Nah, man. I've had it through Steam for a year or so now. I'm probably gonna get Killap's version after I beat the game with this character. Where's a good place to get the restoration project, by the way? Killap have his own site?

First hit for "killap" on Google links to his site. Alternatively, download it from NMA.
