[Rel] The Road to Mournhold

On the Nexus http://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/43681/?! (Mirror on Google Drive https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B0ss6y_pJT86TDNZRmhtOUVJQVk/view?pli=1.)

I like Mournhold, and the big project which I'm working on requires at least a brief trip to Mournhold early on. However, I (and I'm guessing most other players of modded Morrowind) use mods to delay Dark Brotherhood attacks. This poses a problem: how do players who use these mods get to Mournhold before they become an Important Person and end up on the Dark Brotherhood's hitlist?

Up until now, I've been using mods which add travel services to the Tribunal NPCs which just let them take you whenever you want. But this doesn't seem to fit with the lore of travel from Vvardenfell being tightly regulated due to fears of blight outbreaks, does it?

This is a really quick, really simple mod I whipped up to address this problem. It adds a very simple, very short quest which involves no combat at all (and hence is open to anyone) to establish a "lore friendly" way of getting to and from Mournhold without waiting for the Dark Brotherhood attacks to start. It does this via new NPCs, so there's no conflict with original Tribunal.

There is also a new reward -- a scripted amulet which will let you teleport to any Mages Guild across Vvardenfell, but at a cost of magicka which is proportional to your Mysticism skill, so the greater a mage you are, the more convenient it is (for balance).

Note that while it's up on the Nexus as a "quest" mod, it was mainly just to give the player a plausible way of getting to and from Mournhold. If you're expecting in-depth quests, you're going to be disappointed.

Lastly, the mod also fleshes out Folms Mirel's dialogue and gives him a personality.

Here is the readme (which repeats some of what I just wrote... sorry!):

Overview
*****************************************************************************

If you're like me and you play with some sort of "Delayed Dark Brotherhood attacks" mod, you may come across an issue: if you have to wait for the Dark Brotherhood attacks before Asciene Rane will talk to you, how can you get to Mournhold before that?

This mod adds a very short, very simple quest which will give you a lore friendly way of travelling to and from Mournhold whenever you like. The quest requires no combat, and so is available to players of any level. At the end of the quest, you may also receive a balanced teleportation item which lets you travel between the different Mages Guilds of Vvardenfell too.

The mod also gives Folms Mirel a personality (via new dialogue).

To start the quest, ask around for rumours at Caldera. Or, if you're impatient, just go and talk to Folms Mirel at the Caldera Mages Guild.

The mod has been cleaned with TESAME and TES3CMD.

Installation and Requirements
*****************************************************************************

This mod requires the Tribunal expansion only.

Before you install it, you need to choose which .esp file you would like to use.

Version a - This is the basic mod.

Version b - Use this version if you also use the lovely 'Excellent Magic Sounds' mod.

Choose which .esp file you would like to use. You should not under any circumstances try to use both at once.

Install the mod by copying all of the folders in the 'Data Files' directory, including the .esp file which you have chosen, paste them into your Morrowind Data Files directory of choice, and activate the .esp file prior to playing.

As always, I haven't tested adding this mod to existing save files. It shouldn't cause any problems, but you may want to back up your save file just in case, if you're planning on adding the mod in.

Compatibility
*****************************************************************************

Mods which involve killing or altering Folms Mirel will likely conflict with this mod. The only mod I'm aware of which might do this is Rise of House Telvanni, but a quick look through that mod's CS profile shows that they don't actually alter Folms Mirel at all. So, you should be able play this mod along with Rise of House Telvanni as long as you finish the quest before Rise of House Telvanni moves/kills Folms Mirel, and all will be well.

Mods which drastically change the Mournhold palace and/or the Black Shalk Cornerclub may also conflict with this mod. (A quick look through of Antares' Alternative Tribunal Main Quest shows that this mod doesn't mix up the Royal Palace, so there should be no conflict there.)

At some point in the (distant) future, Tamriel Rebuilt may conflict with this mod, as I hear they've got big, exciting plans for vanilla Mournhold!

If LGNPC ever gets to Caldera, there will probably be a conflict with Folms Mirel.

Useage:

The only resources I have made use of in this mod are those from Arcimaestro Antares' Animated Morrowind V1. Please don't use any meshes, textures or sounds from this mod package -- if you would like to use something included here, please download Animated Morrowind V1 and use the resources directly from there.

If for some reason you count my scripts as resources, in which case, go ahead and use them!

Distributions:

You may distribute, host, upload etc this mod anywhere as long as you:
a) don't change anything; i.e. upload the archive exactly as you downloaded it with all files and the readme present.
2) keep crucial details such as the mod author (me) and the version number of the mod visible; and
c) don't charge anyone money for it. Just generally please don't do mean things.

Permissions:

You may:
a) Make translations of this mod freely, no need to contact me. Though it would be nice if you did, just because it would be cool!
2) Make patches for this mod and any other mod you like, as long as in the process of patching it you don't just start changing this mod to suit your own tastes and then releasing that. Again, no need to contact me, though it would be nice.

You may not:
a) Remake, alter or remix this mod and release it publically in any way. (Privately, you can do whatever you like!)
2) Try to pass it off as your own or someone else's.

Basically, just be nice! If in doubt, contact me with your request, and I will probably say yes! =)
