The Rockland Rescue

THE ROCKLAND RESCUE

Peter Hawk, leader of the Black Hawks, the most dominate force of Mercenaries the Wasteland has is in need of help. His enemies have taken the battle to far, killing his son and kidnapping his daughter. Knowing the amount of men that he had lost Peter knew that he could not get his daughter back because his men were Brutes with little knowledge. So Peter looked for the best people the Wasteland had to offer, these people are you, Wasteland Legends. Peter got a list of names and made letter's for his men to deliver to each one of you, the letter read this:

"To whom it may concern,

I am in grave need of help and I have sent you this letter because I need someone with your talents, you see my daughter Hannah has been kidnapped by a group of Rockland Mercenaries and I need your help to get her back. I am willing to pay anyone who helps me 100,000 Caps. You must understand Hannah means the world to me and I need her back, she is the most important thing in my life. If you are willing to help, which I hope you are, come to my Mansion, it is located west of Megaton, it's hard to miss.

Sincerely Peter Hawk
"

ROCKLAND LOCATIONS (Made by -Pariah-)

Drakesville:

Town about the size of Megaton, a little bit larger. Drakesville has a gun shop, armor shop, general store, and a bar. The houses are made of tin and some made of wood. There is no real law enforcement in the town, as it is basically just an organized shanty town with a weak fence around it. Drakesville is common to raids and attacks, and constantly being robbed. There is at least one person dead per raid.

Rockland Train yard:

Rockland Train yard is home to Raiders of Rockland. The main point of interest is the brick building that is a hotel, bar, and brothel in one. There are two traders, and the Raiders allow people to stay in the hotel. The chief Raider here is Bloody Harry. Other than the main building, Raiders have built shacks around the building and on the railroads, as well as living in the train cars. The Raiders living there constantly attack Harristown, a nearby city that is close to Raider-inhabited railroads.

Harristown:

This is the main city of Rockland, all the houses are made of iron or steel. The founder is 73 years old, whose name is George Harris. There are numerous houses, two gun shops, two armor shops, three general stores, five hotels, and two bars. The entire city is surrounded by a 23-foot tall wall, and the front gate is guarded by town police officers. The police headquarters is at the north end of the city. About twenty people guard the gate, while the last ten patrol the streets. Although this is a mighty city, it is ruled by dictatorship, where people have little choice of what they do and how they do it. The Raiders nearby constantly attack the gates, which endangers the city every time, even though there hasn't been a single success yet.

Steel Haven:

Brotherhood of Steel camp that is small, but run by at least forty men. The camp is run by Elder Grant, who oversees all Brotherhood operations in Rockland. The quartermaster there will trade and repair things for outsiders. The camp is to be built into a full fortress once Elder Grant receives resources from the Citadel, which is planned to be sent in 2283. The tents around serve as resting quarters for soldiers and civilians alike. The camp is also a safe site for people in need, of which will be helped for 24 hours maximum. The Brotherhood here has issues with the Raiders nearby who try attacking the camp but mostly fail. The Brotherhood recruits new members here.

http://img265.imageshack.us/img265/1580/rockland.png (Made by -Pariah-)

-----------------

(Made by -Pariah-) Factions/Inhabitants:

Harristown PD- Small group of civilians with uniforms and guns. These men are very inexperienced with real combat, and the only thing they truly do is beat up Harristown citizens and shoot off rounds at Raiders who have absolutely no chance at getting through the Harristown gates.

Railway Raiders- this gang of Raiders are the ones that live in the train yard and terrorize the towns around them. These bastards are your average Raiders, weak, drunken, and psycho. Though the Raiders that live along the railroads are completely hostile, the Raiders in the main area of the train yard will let you come and go, and trade.

The Brotherhood- Sometime after the Scourge of the Pitt, Elder Lyons sent a division of twenty Lyon's Pride soldiers to the west - Rockland - in search of more technology. Elder Lyons made his Star Paladin Judas Grant the Elder of this operation. The Brotherhood members set up a small camp and began recruiting. After a few months, they went searching for technology in the wrong place, the train yard. The group was killed and it became clear that they shouldn't be searching for anything until their numbers grew. They started helping civilians in need and recruiting them, and over time their camp grew in size from the original few tents to a huge campsite.

The Enclave- The Enclave isn't a major threat in Rockland as they only have one site. They normally send out patrols to nearby Brotherhood camp and train yard. Even though the Enclave here is few in numbers, they have managed to take out Liberty Prime, the Brotherhood's secret weapon that defeated them at Project Purity.

Scavengers- Average denizens of Rockland, mainly the ones that either end up as a Raider or living in Drakesville. Few scavengers end up in Harristown, though Harristown is the city for the rich.

Bio:

When Crawley was a boy, he wanted to join the Brotherhood. When he turned nineteen, he had that opportunity. He underwent a year of training and became an initiate of Lyon's Pride. Soon, him and others were sent to Rockland where they set up camp. Not long after, Crawley came across a radiation pit and got his leg stuck in a puddle of green-yellow radioacttive goop. Since he was by himself, nobody could help him and he was stuck there for a day and a half before he finally pulled his leg out. Upon returning to the camp, he realized his hair began falling out and his skin got thinner. Eventually he was nearly bald and his skin was falling off by the minute. His friends and superiors could see what was happening and already knew that he wasn't fit to be in the Brotherhood.

Crawley was banished from the camp and wandered up to Drakesville, where he lived for years in solitude, mourning for himself and regretting ever joining the Brotherhood. He soon awoke from his trance of depression and left Rockland by climbing the low mountains that bordered it. Once back in the Capital Wasteland, he roamed the land, killing anything that attacked first. He lived off of raw meat and human flesh for so long, when resided in Megaton, now known as one of the most dangerous men around, he was ultimately avoided. Nobody would talk to him except Gob at Moriarty's, so he just drank the day away until nighttime, when he would go home and jet himself to sleep. Eventually when he woke up one morning, he left his house and on his front door was a letter. He had his chance to redeem himself and return to Rockland to show the Brotherhood a piece of his mind.

But when Lucien turned ten the Talon Comapny had stopped looking for them, or so Lucien and his father thought. They found a small community of people and moved into there community. While there Lucien's father trained Lucien on how to survive in the Wasteland, he would bring him all around the Wastes, he taught him how to cook certain animals for food, he even brought him on hunting trips and at age eleven let Lucien kill a Raider who his father had beaten when he tried to get a surprise attack on them. Since Lucien was introduced to death and violence, and pain at such an early age he learned to tolerate pain and how to inflict violence. Lucien turned sixteen when he started working with a group of three other people as a Freelance Mercenary Company that were actualy not that bad. Over the next five years Lucien and the "Hellacious Four" dominated the Freeland Merc buisness in the Wastes and were offered by many Mercenary Companies for them to come join there's, but Lucien and the group refused. Lucien eventualy returned home to find that his father was dead. He knew that it was the Talon Compay but he knew he could not do anything about it so for the next decade and a half he spent his day's with his Mercenary Company plotting revenge on the Talon Company but unfortanatley the Brotherhood of Steel got rid of them before he could which caused him to hate all Talon Company members and all BoS members. Years later Lucien found a letter on his door and read it and went of to Megaton in search for this Mansion.

Name: Joseph Rain
Age: Around 210
Race: Ghoul male, born in Underworld DC

Appearance: Joseph has damp orange and mouldy green skin, flaking off like a reptile's. He has clear, near-transparent blue eyes and patches of grey wirey hair. His build is slightly less than average though not much, and he leaves gooey patches of flesh wherever he touches.

Weapons: Customised silenced 10mml pistol called "Honey", and a machete.
Armor/Clothing: He wears a surprisingly clean, white shirt with the top three buttons undone and suspenders with a light kevlar bullet-proof vest over it, a black, loosely tied tie, black casual trousers, fingerless brown gloves and sandals.

Specialty: As a boy you knew that friends were a distraction! By spending your Saturday nights on one of your top of the range computers at home, you've mastered the arts of Machinery hacking! Robots, computers, you name, and you can screw around with it!
Bio: Radiant beacons soared from the sky, erupting the city with a glorious inferno like no other, burning hundreds to shrivelled coal, which had been planted into the walls and ground. The vaults had been full for years. Years that Joseph and his family spent inside them, encased within the dark, underground station. People in the vault had heard of outside survivors setting foot in the wasteland, forming a sort of Civilisation in the hellish desert.
That was the most important peace of news the people of Vault 126 ever heard, and it saved their life one day when a pool of radiation was found to be leaking into the medical lab. In the thought that going outside would kill them, the people would simply stay and die in despair, however with the extra knowledge that it was safe, they rebelled against the Overseer who warned them to stay, even goin so far as to kill several vault dwellers, including Joseph's parents.

When the escape came, and people of the vault finally saw the outside world, the Overseer went too far. He swore that he would NOT let the people go against the plan God had set for them even if he had to destroy the vault. So he did. He threw explosives all over the vault, swearing to bring it down on the peoples' heads, though in the end most still managed to escape anyway.
Joseph and the Overseer however, were crushed by a metal beam that fell from the roof. Luckily for Joseph, it only ground his left leg to oblivion, but the Overseer had his entire head and the top of his torso become a crimson mess that re-coloured the walls and floor. But Joseph fought, using Willpower alone to edge away, because while the beacon itself could be lifted with a pole that lay near him, his leg was too damaged to walk, so a snale pace crawl through the exit was all he could manage, as he felt radiation sickness slowly creeping up from within him, but when outside at last, he found himself rolling down a dirt hill, patches of flesh being left behind as he went. When he finally found himself on solid ground in a place called Springvale, he fell unconscious near a small trench of survivors.

Joseph woke up a few hours later later, his body in intense pain, his vision extremely blurred and his stomach filled to the brim with hunger pain. He spent another day and a half simply lieing down, due to both weakness an despair.
As he wandered for days around the trenches which contained nothing more than a couple of advlt survivors, a child and some rations. he began picking up information on what had been happening by listening to other survivors, but when he tried to talk to them they stared at him like he had two heads, and managed to survive when it came to food and water. And so weeks passed, years that the survivors spent in the dozens of metres of dark underground, hiding from the outside world. But as the transformation finally took full blast of Joseph, he decided that he wanted to experience the world that he had spent his life hiding from.

Through his travels, he got into the habit of keeping the bottle caps from his drinks since people seemed interested in trading for them, and as the months passed, he began to understand what was happening to his body, thanks to another "Ghoul" named Roy who explained that he had faced an immense amount of indirect radiation, and it was gonna change his life forever.
It did.

Many years later, Joseph no longer a youngboy had become a true Wastelander. The excitement of fights was the only thing he could look forward to, and he often paid long visits to his home Underworld, a ghoul city in the Natural History Museum in DC which he had turned to in his teen years when his skin had nearly completely Ghoulified. He explored many locations outsied DC, both charted and uncharted, but he was growing bored of DC at last.
Then in Moriarty's Saloon in the city of Megaton, he heard a rumour of a land called "Rockland". With the single goal of finding Rockland in his mind, Joseph left yet again, saying goodbye to his Ghoul "Mother" in Underworld before setting out with his usual equipment.
Upon his arrival, he spent days in the Rockland rail roads in the act of being a Raider so that he could stay there. A letter came soon after....
Joseph accepted his duty.

Adrian never takes off his gas mask, people dont know why or what his face looks like either. He doesnt realy talk either for reasons they dont know.

While he was in megaton a man handed him a note about peters daughter and went right away, he didnt care about the caps all he wanted was to help people.

Warlock, bit of advice, after the bombs fell it wasn't already the wasteland in a few days. It was years and years before the fallout stopped coming down and when it was safe for humans. This is why playing a pre-war character is tricky, you have to look up quite a bit of Fallout history to get facts correct. Also, being exposed to so much radiation for days would kill you, not turn you Ghoul. It takes alot to make a Ghoul, but too long causes death. The people who were already Ghouls were safe to walk out and stuff, but not people who were human. Just needed to clarify that. :D

Josh, how many people til we start? I'm really excited for this rp, it has potential.

Hmm.. yeah sorry about that, playing a pre-war Ghoul is a pain, especially being that I only recently started playing Fallout 1 and 2 though I always found them to be the most interesting characters. Do you have some advice on things like when he should have become a Ghoul?
Anyway! I'll get some editing in :user:

You can become a Ghoul whenever you feel. The only issue is that if you were alive before the bombs then you have to make it to where you become a Ghoul before you leave wherever you're at. Say, you couldn't get into a vault, right? So, you take cover in a http://farm1.static.flickr.com/109/301226946_562a8d849f.jpg(or anything similar). Now these shelters are only simulated during tests, and cannot withstand more than one bomb. Eventually the entrance blows off and you are still safe downstairs from the bomb, but not radiation in any way. You get heavy radiation sickness and transform into a Ghoul. The reason you wouldn't die is if you set up a makeshift barricade in front of the entry.
If you're doing a Ghoul from later times, then do something like falling in a radiation pit for extended period of time. A single day in a radiation area would be reasonable. That's what I can tell you about Ghoulification.

Name: Lucius Stark

Age: 21

Race (Ghouls Allowed): Human/Caucasian

Appearance: http://sandara.deviantart.com/art/101-120213623

Weapons: Infiltrator, 10mm pistol, Combat Knife in Boot

Armor/Clothing: Ranger Battle Armor with Duster, Rough Leather Boots, Blue Scarf, Goggles, and a Blue armband worn on the right sleeve of the duster.

Misc Items: Geomapper Module, Wasteland Map, Compass, 3 weeks worth of rations,a pack of cigarettes, weapon repair kit, 4 stimpacks, a satchel, a pouch with 112 bottlecaps, and a basic kit of medical supplies

Specialty (Hacking, Lockpickin', etc): Well versed in small guns, small gun repair, and masterful at combat tactics.

Bio: Lucius was raised by the mercs of Reilly’s Rangers. He was found by the rangers on an excursion through the D.C. ruins when he was 8 years old. The rangers took him in and treated him like family and training him to survive the harsh conditions of the wasteland.

By his 14th birthday Lucius had become proficient in small guns, repair, and medicine.
The rangers were very surprised at Lucius’ ability to absorb and learn new information.
They then gave him the job to compile a map of the wasteland from the areas discovered by the geomapper module. When Lucius was 16 the rangers then began taking him with them during their wasteland adventures.

Two years passed and a great portion of D.C. and the areas surrounding had been added to the map. But now Lucius had decided he wanted to forge out on his own to expand the
map. Understanding his feelings the rangers each provided him a single gift before his departure.

Brick scrounged up an infiltrator assault rifle she had acquired from a foreign raider. Donovan offered a repair kit for basic repairs and gun maintenance. Butcher produced a medical aid kit for injuries in the field. Finally Reilly gave Lucius a compass so he would always know where he was. Reilly left these final words of wisdom before allowing him to leave. “Remember you’ll always have a home here and don’t you forget to come back and visit”.

With gifts and supplies in tow Lucius departed for the capitol wasteland to help further the goals of Reilly’s Rangers. Three years have passed since Lucius’ departure from the ranger compound though he has visited numerous times to update the wasteland map. On his last visit a letter had arrived and was waiting for him. Upon his return Griff the new quartermaster informed Lucius that a letter had come for him. Opening it he had discovered it was a call for aid from Peter Hawk of the Blackhawks. After reading the letter he inquired to ask Reilly about the Blackhawks and what he should do.

Reilly expressed concern as she had heard that the Blackhawks were the most dominant merc band in this part of wastes. The blackhawks were even considered more dangerous then the cutthroats of the Talon Company. But seeing an opportunity to see what the blackhawks were about and a chance to map more of the wasteland Lucius set out once more. “Just be careful and come back alive”, were Reilly’s final words to Lucius as he se out for Rockland.

Faction Alignment: Growing up amongst the example of Reilly and the rangers has given Lucius a great respect for them and the knights of the brotherhood of steel. Lucius holds a great hatred towards raiders, slavers, and especially the mercs of Talon Company. Lucius is undecided about the blackhawks as he has heard little about them.

OOC: Whew this took a while to write.

I would join, but I'm hesitant about my character because he'll SORT OF be a ghoul. When I say SORT OF, I mean he would be a ghoul in the sense that he's pre-war and mutated. He also may be a bit uber, but I can definitely dumb him down.
