The Royal Wedding

I watched it. Is it wrong that I kept thinking how hot Kate looked?

I can't fathom how anyone but the guests could give a [censored] about this wedding.

Pretty much this. Although I admit just a few minutes ago I did click on a link to see the dress, which I found to be simply elegant.
Dresses are what gets me to check out Academy awards, too. Clothes, textiles, for that matter, are an underappreciated art form.

I think both David and Victoria Beckham looked surprisingly elegant. Which is actually quiet rare an occasion, for Victoria at least. Though they only showed a quick glimpse of them entering.

I didn't watch it and I don't know anyone who did either. I was raised in a very anti-monarchist environment, so that would probably be the reason why. :P I was growing very tired of all these pictures of the couple in newspapers (I suppose it was worse in the Uk than here in France), now that the wedding is done hopefully they'll stop talking about them.

no.

the royal family are shapeshifting extradimensional reptilian entities intent on keeping the masses of muggles oppressed and ignorant of our multidimensional nature.

Reading threads like this, I actually realise just how many forumers don't come from the UK. Like I can't personally believe that some people hadn't even heard about it till today

Well I'm watching it!
Nice to have a happy event instead of having to read about what our lovely government is up to.
Can understand if people aren't interested in it though, particularly non-UK people, but no reason for all the hate.

the hate mostly stems from us bloody yanks who have a not-so-happy history with monarchy :P

In 1940, the nazis to control over Norway and a norwegian named Vidkun Quisling undemocraticly took the role as prime minister. The government became all nazi. The king and the royal family fled to England and worked and was seen by the norwegian people as the true head of state, and a guidence of the people. He told the people to fight and resist the nazis and held speeches to the norwegian people through british media channels. He is a man of the people, not a man among the politicians. In other words; when everything goes to hell, the royal family is the voice of the people. I like that.

Edit: they are also the voice of the weakest people in the society. You americans don't have that.

This morning when I turned on the TV to watch the news, I forgot that there was that Royal Wedding going on. So I didn't get any news at all other than live footage of the ceremony. The four news channel I have access to only covered that with barely any mention of important news such as the situation in Syria, the tornado aftermath in the US or our country's elections.

Oh well, at least in a day or two they'll stop talking about it on our channels...until they come visit Quebec City this Summer. That'll be...interesting to see. :chaos:

It's with uninteresting royal celebrations such as these that I miss "Les Bleu Poudre" (The Powder Blues). A group of french humorists who were always mocking canadian and british politicians, including the royalty. They had made a pretty hilarious voice dubbing using clips from Charles and Lady Di's wedding. If they'd still be active today, they'd have a lot of footage to mock on. :D
(They had also managed to prank call the Queen)

Haha, what a joke. Amazing that in the modern world, people are so willing to embrace the suggestion that a person is special just because of what family they are a member of. I'm disgusted by the "royal" family, and that fact that so many Americans are so obsessed with the same people we once fought against to win our independence.

Granted I don't think it's worth all the pap they're getting for the wedding, but its generally accepted they're going to spend a large portion of their lives doing charity work now.
They must be so proud. It's so difficult to give away other people's money . . .

Am I the only one who was secretly hoping something VERY bad would happen at this wedding...

Seriously. The past week has been NOTHING, [censored] NOTHING, but Canadian politics, Wedding and [censored] Jesus shows (easter) on TV ALL THE TIME. Can't we devote ONE god-damned channel to 24/7 Politics and Royal Weddings so I can actually WATCH my [censored] TV without being interrupted on every channel telling me about it?

BTW OP. Thanks for ruining FO CD for me with this thread :/

If I remember correctly, the American war of independence was fought because of taxes, not because they actually wanted independence. The founding fathers were very reluctant to split from the British Empire, which they loved; but in the end they had no choice.

They've been together for 10 years. Do you really think two months of marriage will split them?

They carry out huge numbers of charitable schemes of their own, they aren't giving away other people's money, they're benefactors for many different causes.
