I am seriously wondering why this is such a big deal in America. Now it's the only thing on TV.

Probably nothing else was happening today.

I'm not complaining though, I liked it though I'm not British myself. :P

Oh yeah, in case you thought this couldn't get even more blown out of proportion: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-1374160/Royal-Wedding-Canadas-William-Kate-Middleton-coin-better-likeness-UKs.html

I guess, but it's quite common for something like that to be done. It shows that they still have respect for their head of state, and that's not a bad thing.

I don't understand why people still support the fact that someone is better than other people just because they were born into a "royal" family.

Hypocrisy these days.

They should absolve the British royalty. It's a relic of a time that the British should not be proud of...they changed the words but they changed cultures in ways they shouldn't have been changed.

Who says they're better? Nobody, it's just that the British monarch is one of the most influential monarchs in the world, and people have respect for that reason. It's not because they're "better" just, because they were born into royalty or through marriage as you seem to think. :teehee:

Oh noes, now the British are the bad guys. It's not like any other country has had some sort of Imperialistic era.

Let's see if we can stay on the wedding until post limit and leave the politics out of it, please.

I avoided watching it as I was not really interested, but throughout the UK there were millions who had a good time - and a days holiday - good for them. :)

The British Empire set the foundations for modern civilisation. Whether that is a good or bad thing is a matter of opinion. Great Britain also fought to end slavery, and two world wars, to ensure the freedom of every one alive today at great cost to itself. Something that should be remembered.

Never said it was a bad thing, but usually they put the faces of people who've actually done something on money. So far, all William and Kate have done is get born into a royal family and marry some chick who you only started liking after you saw her half nvde (during a modeling gig), or having rich parents and getting hitched to royalty respectively. No disrespect to them, but they're not that special.

I watched it, because I did not wish to absent myself from any significant historical moment purely because the royals are useless outdated sponging balding horsebred cretins.

Kate should totally have worn her famous see-through mesh minidress.

I find it ironic that the US has a sub culture that fawns over celebrities, yet ridicules British monarchy. I'll leave that to the British.
As for the wedding, let me put it this way. Over the last couple of days, over 290 people in the south USA died, due to horrific tornado activity. Holy Crap Batman. :(
The royal wedding was a bit of brightness in an otherwise miserable weekend. Good for them, and for everyone else who got married yesterday. The world needs all the good things it can have.

I really enjoyed watching it with the family. It was a really nice display and it was good to see people enjoying themselves. As for what makes the Windsors special, they are just lovely people you can see that in the Queen and you could see it between the couple, I'm proud that such admirable individuals represent my country.

I watched it because when I happened to click the Google picture, it said it was just 10 minutes away. So I was like "what the heck, I might as well watch it". Even though it was 4 AM where I was.

As for their royalty, what becomes of it is the business of the United Kingdom and its inhabitants.

Not sure what people have against a Constitutional Monarchy (U.S. having a constitutional republic) given that the royals are much like hollywood celebritys with very little real power aside from acting as a tourest attraction and being hunted down by paparazzi.

I myself don't really care however about someone's wedding no matter who they are, 80% of the citizens of U.K. does not even care about the wedding being overemphasized by the media both home and abroad.
