[REL] The Sable Dragon

Thanks Dragon for that link and it's very useful (bookmarked in Firefox). :)

You could be right about this, because when I try to uninstall Pluto's mod in both Wrye Mash and WMSA I get exactly the same error.
Unfortunately, I needed to reinstall WindowsXP again so that error message (python related) was utterly erased.

If there are read-only files in an archive, it will have problems with Wrye Mash. Either the modder should change that, or Wrye Mash should be changed to either ignore the read-only attribute or automatically remove it. The way Wrye Mash works, it uses temporary folder where it extracts files, and then tries to remove those temporary files, and it "chokes" since it cannot empty the temporary folder if some files are read-only. I know at least one mod which also has this problem, it is called Souly Soulgems, link is: http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=mods.detail&id=5161

Another thing that some modders forget, which does not seem to bother Wrye Mash, is the inclusion of "thumbs.db" file in their mod. It is a file which is generated automatically by Windows if a folder contains image files. It is actually hidden, read-only and system file, which contains data of thumbnail images when you view the folder in Windows Explorer, and if you have thumbnail view active. Creating that file can be disabled from folder options. In any case, it is completely unnecessary and it only works in the modders system, not in anyones else. I don't know which Windows versions create that file.

Thanks for the info

First time I saw them was with Windows XP, don't know if they're still created with Vista / Windows 7. The, really rather excellent, http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Utilities.Detail&id=76 (AKA Morrowind Textures Compress & Reorder) will remove them automatically. as well as lots of other cool things, more people need to know about it

@Pluto: This is my fault because I should be more accurate about this in the first place. My apologize. :blush2:

I've found out in Wrye Mash that your mod wasn't removed properly because of that file attribute.
GH_GEO_DMON_M_Groin.nif - with the attributes A R >>> GH_GEO_DMON_M_Groin.nif - with only attribute A

It's only a suggestion for my part to you of what change that's needed. Nothing else just that and Dragon32 understood it. :)

****Version 1.6 has been released.****

A little update. Basically just correcting the last of the spelling errors.

The esp has been renamed, so if you update be sure to deselect the old one. Should cause no problems with current Saves.

Mlox rules remain the same.

Thanks to Arvythrend for the bug-report.
And thanks to everyone who has enjoyed the mod.

Both PES and TESNexus links updated to 1.6

After Mash Installers choked and died installing this (and I know this isn't the fault of the modder but is an issue with Installers program) my solution was to reinstall Wrye Mash, install the mod separately from Wrye, then add the mod to the Installers folder and choose "install missing" (when of course no files were missing), giving the mod a "installed" status which at least allowed the it to be included in the conflict/ordering process of BAIN.

After doing that, I've now read the advice given here on GH_GEO_DMON_M_Groin.nif. So, I just want to be clear on how to fix this permanently. My understanding is that I just need to switch off the "read only" attribute of said file and then the problem should go away, is this right? No other files have the same problem? (There are a ton of files in there.)

EDIT: never mind on the below part - I believe its only high-order ASCII characters that cause the problem, of which the symbol ! is not part, as I understand it. Still hoping for clarification on the above part though.

I also heard that its possible characters such as "!" can be problems for Wrye Mash installers. Could this be a problem? There are four such files in the mod's archive:

Textures\PT\!!!blue.dds
Textures\PT\!!!green.dds
Textures\PT\!!!orange.dds
Textures\PT\!!!red.dds

Bump for awesomeness.

I have only played a small part of the mod, but it is very high quality. I am really enjoying it. The thing is I can't find
Spoiler

His apartment is in the main interior. (The Waistworks, I believe it's called.) It's a door at the end of one of the long hallways. Check your map, maybe you ran by it without noticing.

Thanks! I'm glad you're enjoying it. :)

Ah, thanks. I can't believe I missed it. I'm just used to looking in the middle hallways.
