The same books...

They really can't get away with it thanks to the time progression. I'm sure there'll be a couple really old copies of books from previous games though.

Worse than having the same books is knowing that 80% of them are the same books from Morrowind, shamelessly copypasted from it.

How in the world can you say that? Well over half the books in Oblivion were original, and it's a GOOD thing that they included books from the previous game!

As for the people saying that we won't see books from oblivion in Skyrim because of the time progression: 200 years is nothing, in Tamriel. In Oblivion we read books that were thousands of years old, and I'm sure the majority of literature in the game was more than a hundred years old.

I think carrying over books from previous games is a good thing. Most of the books in the games are meant to be somewhat significant texts (can you imagine how huge a body of fiction, cookbooks, farming tips(!), etc actually exists in a given province?), and those significant texts shouldn't vanish in favour of totally new ones simply because it's a new game.

But I agree in general. I really hope Michael Kirkbride's been brought in to write [new material] for Skyrim.

Actually, I think it would be awesome to see a farmer's almanac in tamriel. The complexity of keeping track of two moons, and the implications of their positions, would be cool to see.

By the way, I think MK is writing for Skyrim. He's posted two new Nordic stories on the lore forums recently, if you haven't seen.

Every book in the other games, and new ones, and first editions, and lots of copies of the same ones, and more skill books, and libraries with all the non unique, non skill books in one place, and why are people complaining about multiple copies of cheap, popular books. You get a game in which you can pick up and read every book on every shelf, and there's moaning.

At least!

Would be nice, but I was hoping for longer ones as well, trying to keep myself realistic.

I sure hope so! I noticed them, but haven't made time to give them a thorough read yet. Thanks.

Not many books are written in a few years. The time-frame between Morrowind and Oblivion is 6 years, give or take.

They could really do a lot with books. First editions, collectors items, bonuses for collecting sets. It would be cool to have a list of all published books at that time and you have to set about to collect them ALL (amongst your other quests). Maybe you could have these little monsters that fight other peoples monsters and the prize is a book and you have to collect them al............... no wait!

Lots of books, old and new, please. Preferably with conflicting information so we have to piece things together for ourselves.

I want all the old books, though I think that after 200 plus years, most of them should be rare. I also want lots of new books.

New books please, but also editions. Wouldn't it be great to track down all the first editions of books.
I love the idea of editions. It would make collecting books much more interesting.

The only problem with your claim, and it's just a tiny, little one, is that you're completely wrong. I've done some actual research into this matter instead of blindly complaining about the same misconception other people do, and the results came up as about 90 books being written for Daggerfall, about 230 being written for Morrowind, and about 140 being written for Oblivion. Oblivion added plenty and the only way 80% of Oblivion's books could have been copied and pasted directly from the books created for Morrowind would have been if Morrowind had 560 books created for it and all of them were copy-pasted to Oblivion. Neither of those requirements are even close to true.

Hmm...

Epic dragon fights or newly written books...

wow that's a tough one, but...

The epic dragon fights win. Sorry.

Why can't we have epic dragon fights in which we throw newly written books? :P

I think it would be nice to have some new books... something that talks about the oldest Draagonborns xD... and about The character from oblivion, how he saved martin and stuff... and several different points of view... also i wouldnt mind to have some sort of picture as to how the drtagon in the Imperial city ended up after 150 years or so... perhaps have books written in dragon tongue... and i would like to have a home, or anywayre really, were someone goes to the bookshelf and iof there is a really weird book, or something that is "good" they react to it, saying that its a weird book or something... i like to collect them in oblivion, and now that i have found out how, i've dedicated my self to organize all of the book i have on a shelf in Frostthig Spire (dont know the real writing way for it so i just leave it that way, you know what i mean), i would like to the same thing on skyrim...

I expect that there will be few if any new books. Books require the sort of creative talent that corporations don't know how to budget for.

Maybe you could have these little monsters that fight other peoples monsters and the prize is a book and you have to collect them al............... no wait!

But I liked where your idea was going..!

I don't care so much about the amount as I do the variety. Seeing the same books in every shop/house in Oblivion kinda just made me numb to the idea of even scanning over the books I saw after about 20 hours of game play because I already had an idea of what they were.

So either a- same amount of books, more variety or b- more books, more variety. :)
