I think carrying over books from previous games is a good thing. Most of the books in the games are meant to be somewhat significant texts (can you imagine how huge a body of fiction, cookbooks, farming tips(!), etc actually exists in a given province?), and those significant texts shouldn't vanish in favour of totally new ones simply because it's a new game.
But I agree in general. I really hope Michael Kirkbride's been brought in to write [new material] for Skyrim.
Actually, I think it would be
awesome to see a farmer's almanac in tamriel. The complexity of keeping track of two moons, and the implications of their positions, would be cool to see.
