The Same 5 Songs. OVER AND OVER AND OVER.

Post » Wed Aug 18, 2010 12:37 am

You may have noticed that there are only about 5 or 6 songs in between radio broadcasts of Three Dog. It may have been a strategic decision on the part of the developers, but perhaps there should be records that you can find scattered throughout the Wasteland. These could be somewhat discrete, like the bobbleheads, but more practical. Any thoughts?

All those songs would take up quite a bit of space on the disc too so I guess that was something to consider. The solution? http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=1418. :D

The idea of having extra records that have to be found first is cool though.

There are actually about 20 songs, but you're right, they do get old pretty quick. I wish there was a way to splice in songs from your I-pod, so you could listen to the stuff you liked.

The extra hundred songs really goes a long way, yeah.

Good point.
You know what also would be nice? If you could get the jukeboxes to play. Also what's with the radios one encounters? After activation all you get is static. Bioshock definately has more music options. Still Fallout 3 is still the mastepiece of all games and it's amazing Bethesda got as much on one disc as it did.

Yeah, it was a big world, but Bethesda is the creator of TES4, as far as I've heard, the largest game to date. Did that come in one disc? I haven't played it, so... :/

Depends on what platform. These 4.5 GB DVDs are really holding us back.

This is simply why I don't listen to any radio stations in the game! But I do like that record idea :mohawk:

Yeah I thought that new records you could find and turn in would be great. I like listening to what 3 dog says about me but even that gets repetitive after awhile.

Yeah, that's a good one. And perfectly appropriate for post-apocalyptia.

I wanted desperately to create a mod that did this for FO3. However, I'm a novice modder at best, and the scripting and stuff you have to set up for the quests were needless to say WAY more advanced than my meager skills could comprehend, lol. However, I hope to find someone who is willing to partner with me and build one for Fallout: New Vegas. (crosses fingers) I still have maybe 40 or 50 songs from public domain saved somewhere on a external drive I planned on using. So if anyone knows scripting and is good with fairly complex quests and want to partner with me drop me a PM. I can easily do most of the "grunt" work like adding in all the objects and so forth. I just need help with the hard stuff.

I rarely play my Pip Boy radio, so it hasn't bothered me. I turned it on for a while initially just to get into the mood of the game, but that's about it. I find the ambient sounds and music just right. I hadn't really thought about it till now, but, since the 360 allows you to play your uploaded tunes during any game, I may start blasting some Front Line Assembly while cruising the wasteland for a change. :mohawk: :gun: :D

I got a bit sick of the same songs over and over also - they'll sometimes stay in my head for days! eeek! I tend to just listen to the ambient sounds now instead of the radio, but I DO like the idea of finding records around the Wasteland! :) Clever idea!

Do you think the choice of old-fashioned songs was simply to fit in with the atmosphere and era of the game? Or do you think it was also a strategic move because the copyright etc. would have been cheaper for the game-makers? Just an added thought ...
