The Sayings of Maiq the Liar

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 3:01 pm

"Many people ask Maiq why things are so confusing and why history does not add up, Maiq thinks that the gods have been at work and forgotten their schoolbooks."

Minor reference to one of the most popular topics on the forum, 'How Oblivion Massacred Lore!'

Good one!! More like Talos though....

"M'aiq heard of many cults to Dibella in Cyrodil. M'aiq knows what happened to them. M'aiq thinks Talos threw a fit and changed history just like what he did with werelions and jungles. Don't ask M'aiq how he knows, he just does."

Reference to Oblivion's lore massacre as well.

"M'aiq knows that the people of Morrowind give other people clear and decent directions. Why others don't use them is unknown to M'aiq."

Reference to complaints about wandering aimlessly in Morrowind.

I don't think it's so much about wandering aimlessly as it was about "find this spot in the middle of nowhere with these generic directions in the middle of a howling ash storm". Friggin' cave.

Let's see, something that doesn't try to insult people..

"M'aiq is glad he can see more than ten feet in front of his face, now."

The years and countless PC upgrades may have nullified this, but anyone who installed Morrowind in the old days should get it.

Actually, Morrowind's characters gave decent directions 9/10 times for me, also, wandering aimlessly was also a complaint though, someone said they had no idea what the "Houses" were. Also, the comment wasn't made to offend people.

Also, this is an insult on opinions too if mine was.

"M'aiq likes swords. M'aiq likes swinging swords at enemies even more! M'aiq even remembers when he would swing at an enemy and nothing would happen... M'aiq still has nightmares about those awful times."

Some people liked missing, besides, the Devs insulted both ideas and players.

"M'aiq hears of people who wish to hold two swords at once. M'aiq thinks they are silly: why bother holding two small swords when you can just hold a big one?"

Nice ones, I actually like M'aiq being essential because of that quote.

"M'aiq hears that some of the people of Cyrodil are immortal. M'aiq guesses we must have many more then Nine Divines. 50 perhaps?"

Complaint on essential NPCs.

"M'aiq knows many people that must die twice to be truly dead. If they are only killed once they become invisible people and let you take from their original corpse. M'aiq knows this is true."

A reference to the problem with scripted deaths. For example, with KotN the priestesses of Dibella can be killed twice. (Kill them before enabling it, then enable it)

"People ask Maiq, how to tell the difference between a strong mage and a weak one, Maiq tells them, how should he know? They both throw fireballs that look the same, Maiq thinks if you die after you are hit, then it was a strong one."

Reference to how every fireball looks the same no matter the magnitude, only area effects are visible, which are only visible after you are hit :P

'Maiq does not want to go by horse and cart; he can imagine that people would dislike it because of they are not allowed to pick up the poo. These people make Maiq wish that he was a dog, so he wouldn't have to do that himself' - Maiq on the introduction of a realistic way to travel

'Maiq thinks that it would be nice to see more people on the Elder Council. If they're not going to use it, Maiq wants to fill their table with fish' - Maiq on the Elder Council

'Maiq does not mind the Dunmer, although he does not want to be near one. They remind Maiq of six' - Maiq on books from other games

'I wish the people could speak in their own languages. Those that do have no greeting' - Maiq on the Shivering Isles

'Maiq wishes to speak to a friend he once had, called Cutter. This is because Maiq wants to see whether she wants the next game to have area damage, which would make her a much more interesting person' - Maiq talking like a complete idiot

'Maiq wants to be more involved in politics. There are so many things lost on the roads by people in power, and too few people they can send to get them' - Maiq on Morrowind's use of politics and the Great Houses

'Maiq is a furry, although he does not want to meet an Akaviri because of it' - Maiq, because I had to do that

Wow! What a rush Gallowglass, but i didn't understand the one about Cutter, (unless it's not supposed to make sense?), and the one about furries?

If you've spoken to Cutter, in the Shivering Isles, you'll get it. And Maiq is a furry - I'm not going to explain that where people about my age could view it ;)

"M'aiq doesn't understand why Alessia Ottus still writes guides. It's clear that she is a biased, racist fool. She makes the nine divines look worse then Talos does M'aiq thinks."

M'aiq's opinion on Alessia Ottus. (She is the most hated TES character, right?)

"M'aiq thinks tat the Count of Leyawiin is a fool and an idiot. Who would allow their wife to torture people? It's quite clear that Leyawiin is unsafe for Dunmer, Argonians, and Khajiits. M'aiq can only wish someone could do something about it."

M'aiq's opinion on Leyawiin and the lack of political involvement there is there. (Seriously, we could have had two opposing quests, one where you help Alessia Caro and the other where you help Khajiit's and Argonians retake Blackwood)

"Elder Council? What Elder Council? All we have is Ocato, a man who does nothing but sit all day. Who made him in charge M'aiq wonders."

M'aiqs thought on Ocato's lack of involvement in politics and the lack of a council.

Yeah, I know. Still, it's annoying to see no other guides for Cyrodil. I would imagine some of the authors would compete. It just seems that there is no competition in Cyrodil between anyone for the most part (Only one in a quest). Not even friendly ones.

"M'aiq wonders why no one competes in Cyrodil. Are they all friends? M'aiq will always wonder this."

Reference to lack of competition in Cyrodil.

Maiq often wonders why the people in different provinces move so differently. The peole of cyrodiil walk and run very proper. Too proper for maig's taste. He thinks they are stuck up. But the people of morrowind are no better. They walk and run as though they have dones something disgusting within their breeches. Maiq does not like to be around them either."

Reference to the drastically different moving animations between oblivion and morrowind.(I know it had to do with hardware limitations and such.)

"Maiq wished to know why the water's of cyrodiil are so empty. Maiq thinks that someone needs to stop eating all the fishies. How will maiq give fishy sticks to his new friends without fishies?"
Reference to the damn near dead water within cyrodiil.

"The silt striders within the province of morrowind have always bothered Maiq. They remind him too much of the vermin that plague Maiq within his fur."
Reference to silt striders looking so much like giant fleas.

"Maiq often wonders why his spells are never at their peak while wearing armor. Maybe he forgets to add that extra bit of energy within his spells while wearing armor."
Reference to the whole one bit of armor means you will never have 100% spell effectiveness.

"Maiq believes the guards may be witches. Always knowing what Maiq does. Yet never being close enough to see Maiq doing these things."
Reference to the "psychic guards" of the provinces.

"Maiq loves the snow, but Maiq does not like getting sick from the cold."

Those are all spectacular.

"M'aiq hears of people who want to make big fireballs that shoot out little rocks. M'aiq thinks that those people are crazy. If you want to hit somebody with fire and a rock, then why don't you throw it?"

Its a stretch, but its about people wanting explosives and guns.

"M'aiq wonders why people want to change Mundus. M'aiq thinks that the Gods did a good job with making Mundus how it is. And also, Their world, Their rules."

Another stretch, but it is about how people want to make some user submitted mods available on the Xbox 360 Marketplace.

"Maiq remembers a time when the nords spoke nordish, the orcs spoke orchish, the khajiits spoke khajiitish and the argonians spoke argonianish, now everybody has forgotten their language and speaks the unknown language of english, now maiq can't swear behind the argonians' back."

Reference to how everybody speaks one language considering each race does indeed speak in different ways, i used english as that is the most popular language plus the language of the forums.

Are you suggesting that everybody should speak in some sort of incomprehensible language? How would that work? I mean, you click on some unknown word when you initiate dialogue, hear some unintelligible gibberish, and you get a notification that a new quest has been activated. You check your journal and the only entry is "Wtf did he say?" Doesn't sound fun.

Better term is Cyrodiilic. The majority of the land need to speak Cyrodiilic in order to get around in life, and by mean Cyrodiilic, it mean that Cyrodiilic == User's Language. So Cyrodiilic might be English to ya can be that Cyrodiilic be French to some, Japanese to another and etc.

You seriously think we should keep the closed cities? Also, there were language skills for the games creatures, besides, we could have some speak English and others speak their language and language skills could determine if we could understand what they were saying.

"M'aiq remembers the ability to fly and to walk into cities in Morrowind, unfortunately Cyrodil's counts and countesses are fools and lock up their cities. M'aiq still wonders why they would do such a foolish thing."
