The Setting

Post » Thu Oct 14, 2010 3:26 pm

So guys, I'm so happy that the fifth is coming out (YAY!), and I hate to sound like a [censored], but is anyone else concerned about the setting? I just think it might get a bit boring, and a bit annoying, to be in a world which is constantly snowing. I'm not so fond of the thought of constantly facing the conditions of Bruma like we saw in Oblivion.
Sorry for complaining so early on, but what are your opinions on the new setting?

Complaining early on? You are late my friend LOL. I made a post similiar to yours. You are lucky, people are behaving here, when I made this post when we had the Skyrim forums first come out, I almost got ripped a new bum hole for suggesting this lol.

How can anyone think that Skyrim is all snow? Look at the damn map, it shows just as much snowy areas as geen areas: http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y220/GrungeHead1991/SkyrimMapv2-1.jpg

Quite simple really. Once you hit Bruma in Oblivion, you are in the North, and have snow. When you go further north, you don't expect sandy beaches unless you are in Antartica. So going more north of Bruma, I expect only harsher climates and more snow, not less snow and sunny beaches.

Multiple region types confirmed.

Oh man. I didn't know this thread was made last year. Argh just noticed the date.

Come on man why did you bring this thread when the last post was made in December? :banghead:

I am happy with the setting as I love the North and all it's beauty.

I feel the same way as you. I mean deep down I know that Bethesda will make a great game no matter what, but I really really hope Skyrim isn't all snow, mountains, and shades of grey. I want a diverse world with jungles, forests, swamps, mountains, cities and plains. I dearly hope that the game world isn't just a mountainous, fantasy version of Antarctica.

Such diversity in such a small world would be strange in my opinion.

I'll feel slightly out of place as a Khajiit in the cold, but no matter!

What did this old thread get dragged up for?

I think the variety of geography shown in the screens and videos is one of the things that most excites me from what has been released. The fall forest scenes look amazing. The pine forest scenes look great. We haven't even seen any of the volcanic tundra scenes yet, I don't think. There seems like a lot of variety.

At first, I was slightly disappointed with the location. I thought, "Oh great, more generic forests and snowy mountains," but now it looks like it is going to be significantly different than Cyrodiil and with a good deal of variety.

I still hope to see an ES game in Elsweyr, Black Marsh, Valenwood, or Summerset Isle. They all seem enticingly exotic.
