I was thinking recently about how Skyrim only allows you to use a weapon in your right hand and a shield in you left. You can't switch those two around its been confirmed. I was thinking since I am left handed about how I could role play a left handed character. I knew about all the amazing perks for the Block skill like the shield bash and what not and I realized that the shield can now be used as a primary weapon. You can bash people, sprint with your shield up and plow down enemies and all around be a bad ass. Its even realistic to specialize specifically in the block skill. Many many cultures all over the world have used shields as one of their most vital pieces of apparel and in some cases weaponry.

What are your guy's thoughts on the idea? Will you try to do anything like this?

I have indeed given thought to a spellshield character.

Thats an idea, Worm. I might try doing that. A shield in one hand and a bound sword in the other would be awesome. Or a sweet destruction spell.

Sheild in left, Flamethrower in Right.

Sheild charge into enemy knocking them over, turn a little spray fire at them and burn them into the ground.

I say do what You like.

It sounds like it could be a fun playstyle if you used your Right hand for Magic.

I'll eventually make a character who uses a shield in one hand and just punches people in the other. Should be loads of fun.

I swear i heard in one place that you could only hold a shield in your left hand. then i heard from an interview with todd howard that you could put a shield in eaither the left or the right. im also pretty sure that when you are duel weilding weapons, the left trigger blocks and the right trigger swings both weapons.
im realy gona try a shield and staff combo if staffs are any good. the staff of magelight in the demo does do 1 damage in addition to its lighting the target so who know =/

I want a companion that holds a large Tower Shield so i can duck behind him when shooting my bow.

I hope they have tower shields. I really missed those in Oblivion, the only game where you can have fun with the block skill.
