The silent hero. are you for or against?

In Skyrim when the PC talks there is no voice acting.
it might have been a conscious decision to let players imagine the voice of the character they're playing in their heads or another reason like the budget required for recording male\female(khajiit\argonian\ork?) voices.

Do you like the fact that there is no voice acting and that once u select your dialogue option then the NPC immediately replys, or would u have preferred if there was voice acting reading every option the PC selects to say?

No voice acting.

It definitely wasn't a budget decision- they've never had a PC voice in any of the prior games (except for grunts, etc.). Adding Dragon Shouts is enough for me.

The game is about making your own decisions and creating a totally unique character. No writing/acting team in the world is going to be able to capture all those possibilities in the dialogue.

Its hard to have voice acting when so many people are used to silence.

If it was done extremely well, I would love it. Otherwise, there are too many against it because of past games.

In games like these, I prefer no voice acting. Would be too costly and take too much time to find an appropriate actor/actors to voice all those lines. It works for Mass Effect, and I [censored] love the Mass Effect series, but it wouldn't work for Elder Scrolls.

I enjoy the silent hero.....much like the old school zeldas. Lets you fill in the character more. As much as i like the mass effect series, I never felt like i was truely role-playing with him talking.... Felt more like an interactive movie. I hope TES never turns into this.....

They should never ever do it in a TES game.

That's a rediculous amount of voice acting for something I don't give two [censored] about.

If they ever add voice acting, it will go against Beth's "Be who you want" thing.

Besides, silent heroes are the best. (clint eastwood, Master Chief, etc.)

well its not really a silent hero in my mind
your character says stuff, but your just supposed to imagine the voice so it can be exactly how you want it to be
if he was silent, i would think every dialog option would be something like "Say nothing and stare at the person. because you are silent."

a long time ago I played fable3 (not realizing that was bottom of the list....how could this be called an RPG?) and hearing the set voice was...more dissapointing than the game itself (how is that possible?!)

Unless you had 4-10 different voice actors for each race/gender. I am firmly for the silent hero.
The Elder Scrolls is all about making your own, unique character and having a forced voice would make it a worse experience for me.

I don't mind a voiced PC if you are playing a very specific NAMED personality. Commander Shepherd for instance. However, in a game like Skyrim where I am making up many different characters, then absolutely NO. I don't want to hate my character because I don't like the way they sound.

What if they gave you a voice, and then let you turn it off if you wanted to. Woah....
