I pretty much stopped playing the originals when I bought Sims 2 because of one important feature: Aging.
In Sims 1, I'd always end up drowning my family's children because of how frustrating they can be. Always the need to do homework, always complaining for the slightest thing and their voice.

Either drowning or using firecrackers inside a shed outside the house. Always fun. :D

Right now, I'm with Sims 3 which I find better than Sims 2 and Sims 1. They only get better after each title. But I'll wait until they do some sort of mega pack with all the expansions before buying, as I've done with Sims 2. Now that Sims 3 is on Steam, there might be nice deals eventually.

I did like Sims 1's Making Magic expansion though. It was a nice change from the main gameplay.

My sims came in the collection pack (sims online Sims theme park + gold edition disc and sims Deluxe disc 1 + 2) unfortunatly ive never been able to get the magic or the pets exspansions (both i really really want because magic makes everything better and pets are interesting)

also as of recently i learned i pwn at making casltes but fail at making houses ... (Castle Crusdader for castles) my most recent sim house is about 500 squares of white tiles no walls except for a randomly placed door so the neibours dont walk around my lot looking for a door bell and then getting lost and nearly dieing on my front lawn before they decide to leave....

Sims 1 will always be greater than the Sims 3 to me.

Sims 3 is the ultimate tool in terms of painting. I managed to build my house down to perfect scale and color in it. But Sims 1 is a lot more basic giving the freedom to do a lot more.

The music, the user made content, and lets not forget the face editor!

I started by playing "The Sims" on the gamecube, which is still my favorite to this day. Right now I am playing Sims 3, but while I enjoy the depth to it, something about it doesn't sit quite right with me, though I don't know what it is.

I don't play it but regularly scour eBay for a cheap copy of the game and all it's expansions. :) I saw it a few months ago for £16 and still kick myself now for not just buying it.

I've got all the Sims 2 games and expansions. Ditto for 3.

Sims 2 is my favourite of them. I loved the aspect of aging, and I loved several of the DLCs. Especially University, Pets and Seaons.

I have most of the console versions, but they are a bit dumbed down, apart from Sims 1, which is slightly upgraded from the PC version in terms of graphics. It also had this ridiculous cheat where you could drag out a length of carpet, buy it, and then sell the whole thing in one for more money than you paid for the carpet in the first place.

I thought the Sims 2 games for console were all rubbish, actually. I really disliked them. But I did like the two Sims 1 games for PS2, those were the ones that introduced me to the franchise, actually.

Ah Sims. The Sims 2 is my favorite, but I also enjoy the Sims 3. I would install the Sims 2 on my PC but my family lost one of the install discs when I loaned the game to them. Curses.
