The Sink

Post » Wed Jul 13, 2011 12:50 am

Long have we console players searched for the "Perfect" home. While PC mods allow for almost anything to be placed in player housing, console users have searched far and wide to find a home with all of the amenities. Novac home has a bed, storage and a water source but the crafting stations are outside the room. Abandoned BOS Bunker had a bed and reloading/work benches but no water source or campfire.

I think the sink is going to have all of these things and more. From the trailer and from previous screen sots i saw work/reloading benches and at 0:21 on the trailer I saw manequins with armor/clothing on. I feel that this will truly be a Home Base for the player.

For a while the question I posed to my friends was "Why would you choose any other house besides Abandoned BOS Bunker?" Now the question will become "Why would you choose any other house besides the sink?"

So what do yo think? do you think it will have a rad free water source? a campfire/hot plate? a fish tank? Discuss.

BoS Safehouse has a Fountain, and safe lockers and work benches. Why not live there instead of the Abandoned one?
Well, I hope the sink has a radio like the Followers Safehouse, and work benches and safe storage. If it does well then, looks like I'm moving again :D

Because I like to display my stuff. pluss the real estate is not much to work with. Not much space above or below ground. Besides the Abandoned safehouse has the "Hall of Dakka". Each of the beds contains one heavy weapon (Fatman, Mercy, Avenger, Anabelle, Tesla Prototype, and Heavy incinerator) and it's respective ammo.

But yeah I have a strong feeling that I'm going to be making a big nove to the Sink and the Abandoned Safehouse will only have a few vital supplies in itfor if i'm in the area.

Yeah, I don't live in the BoS safehouse, I live in the Followers one, IMO the best place to live, not only do I get company, I also have a radio, lots of space for storage and places to display souvenirs and I get a fridge of food :celebration:

What I don't understand is why the Abandoned BoS bunker didn't have an electric hotplate in the first place. I would assume Elijah would keep one there for ...hotplate purposes. I'm hoping the sink will be bigger, have more utilities, and possibly display cases. :D

Let's wait till we see how many load screens are between the Sink and the Mojave...

That is what I think The Sink will have... Five loading screens just to make us scream.

I dunno why but I think there'd be 3, or 4...
Hrm, it appears my comment didn't edit...
Well, I said I might move to the Big Empty... Never to return to the Mojave, never to shape the future of Vegas... :violin:

Well, if enemies continually spawn in the Big Empty, and there are many secrets to discover, along with decent sidequests, it may be worth it to have a home there. I may not leave if that's true. I mean, I've already completed just about every possible sidequest I can, snowglobes, companions, etc., so the only thing I have to do is wait for the Hoover Dam battle. So while I'm waiting for Lonesome Road, I may live in the sink.

It's not like we'll be alone, we still have talking appliances to keep us comany :)

Anyway, as loading screens go, it'll probably be:
(optional) 1 screen to fast travel to the connecting point between the Mojave and Big Mt.
1 screen from the Mojave to Big Mt.
1 screen to fast travel from Big Mt. entrance point to Sink, unless it's close or one wants to walk
1 screen to get inside the sink.

So I predict just 3 or 4 loading screens, not too bad, I mean the Lucky 38 takes 4 loading screens anyway (1 to fast travel to strip, 1 to enter strip, 1 to enter Lucky 38, 1 from elevator to Presidential Suite)

There is one, big, empty looking loading screen between the Mojave and the Sink.

one to get to the entry point of Big MT
One to get INTO Big MT
One To get into the sink inside of Big MT

And those are ideall conditions

I would live there,but..... *whispers*.. Cazadors! :cold: .

I live in the lucky 38, I like it, but it only has work bench, and takes FOR EVER to get into. since the quore vid came out, all I have cared about was the home base(I culd tell the sink would be one from the little I could see  ).I hope I will finaly get the perfect home my PC deserves. It looks like it has a radio, display things like dummies and shelves,WB,RB,a garden of sorts, and other talking things and cool computers and such.If it has water and a place to cook,Im set.

And hey, it CANT take longer to get into than the L38.It takes a long time with all those loading screans(especialy befor the patchs when each screan took like 30 sec. a piece). So even if it takes 4 load screans, if it has more features,Im used to it any way, hopefuly it will have less!

Same. With an SSD HDD my load times are fairly short (5-10s) but it's still annoying. Plus companions tend to end up all over the place when entering/leaving the Lucky 38.

Don't even get me started on how the other Strip casinos remove your hotkeys weapons every time you walk through the door :banghead:

Currently using BoS safe house because it has everything I need except FIRE and Paladin Sato can make repairs in a pinch. Fast travel with a heavy load is quick to get inside. Only down side, Death Claw sometimes spawn, but they are easily dispatched.

Looking forward to moving to The Sink if it's an upgrade.

I'm now using Novac as base - it's near the fast travel point, there are shop, workbench and loadbench not too far. But it woud be better to have fast tavel directly inside home, and all 3 craft tools inside it.

Cazadores no problem for me! I just fast travel to the house if I'm far away and even if I'm not, they don't seem to be around when I walk up there! :)

Ya know, the Jason Bergman said the Sink IS upgradable, so maybe at first it won't be much, but maybe it'll have a terminal like the lucky 38's to purchase things like an electric hotplate, or hopefully armor stands and stuff

Novac is most convenient.

I doubt I will use the sink as a home. Too many load screens im going to guess.

On the topic of homes I hope we dont get a dissapointing section. I remember the 38s the first time I was there.

*goes to penthouse* "wow this is great, I hope y room is like this, svck great lighting."
*talks with house and visits his room* "wtf, this isnt half as good, its ugly" *grumbles more*
*visits cocktail lounge* Oh right, give me an ugly room, but make the one that has no use look nice, and rub it in just how much nicer the room could be, and I get that terrible place.

I hope the sink isnt like that, then again I doubt the sink will look as nice.
I wish I could use a mod to swap rooms with the cocktail lounge... Free optional dlc ? :(

The only problem I'll have is it took hours to display my stuff in the abandoned bos Bunker so the sink better have a good and easy way to display.
