The skies in Skyrim

Post » Sat Oct 08, 2011 12:27 am

Ok so I'm playing Rage and one of the things I was stunned by is the amazing skies in the game, enormous and looks really beautiful. So I find myself often looking to the heaven to watch it in this game, and I have never cared much about skies in other games. Will Skyrim have skies anywhere near what we see in Rage? I really hope so.

I'm sure the skies of Skyrim will be amazing...Until that bird in the distance just keeps getting bigger..And bigger..And bigger, and then it's too late, because the cliffracer is all over you.

Are they dynamic volumetric clouds or something?

I hope so. I've only seen screens of Rage, but the sky is beautiful looking in that game. I loved the sky (especially night) in OB, so let's hope it looks just as good, if not better. ^_^

For some reason I dare not give Rage a try. No idea why is that 'cause I really liked the Fallout and Wolfenstein games.

Morrowind had some of the most beautiful skies, particularly the night sky. Oblivion continued the trend (same artist, one of the only times I contacted Todd, and he responded) to a good extent; based on what I've seen, I fully expect Skyrim to continue and improve upon this.

Aren't the skies in Oblivion and Morrowind just moving pictures? Theres nothing dynamic or impressive about them is there? Just looks like an overlay for when it's overcast etc otherwise a few moving pictures on a clear day or night.

I believe this version is much more fitting to Skyrim.

well I agree the night sky was amazing in Morrowind and Oblivion, but the sky during the day is 10x better in Rage than in any elder scrolls games so far. The skies is massive and looks so real, they are simply amazing, never seen better skies in any game.

Eh, true enough. And I suppose dragons are better than my old arch nemesis.

But the skies in Rage don't move, i think... They are really nice sky textures ;x

My brother is playing it, and though it is damn gorgeous... they aren't dynamic in any way. I'll pay more attention when I watch him play a bit.

PS... Rage is lacking in open-ness. Can't climb over small obstacles or even go up stairs they don't want you going up (invisible walls). :sadvaultboy:

yeah, well imagen a dynamic sky that has the look Rage has in Skyrim, that would be so awesome! and yeah I know.I just play rage to kill time until skyrim comes out, Rage means nothing to me really, hehe

The skies in oblivion were pretty good, and with the new graphics on Skyrim, i have 100% faith that the skies in that game will be much better.
