I would like to take this opportunity to thank the people that contributed to making the DID playstyle a part of the Bethesda Softworks Forums. The initial thread began, and still resides, in the neighboring forum of Fall Out New Vegas. The founder .46ACP (Gunny) who was inspired by Longknife.

Now for the basics. If you are unfamiliar with, or would like to know more about the http://graveyard.wikia.com/wiki/Dead_is_Dead:_A_gaming_playstyle_choice. Please visit the DID Gaming Playstyle page, in the http://graveyard.wikia.com/wiki/The_Graveyard_-_A_Dead_Is_Dead_gamplay_site_Wiki.

Just one rule...Dead is Dead. /dead.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':dead:' />


1) When your character falls in battle or falls from a cliff, that's it. They are dead. Game over. No reloads. Feel free to restart, ( at the cave exit ) with the ole "I or II", after their names. If you so choose.


*Exception*

...If your character falls due to a glitch, the game locks up or due to any outside action and/or distraction ( kids / pets / mother-in-law ) at no fault from the player. No shame will fall upon you to revert to a previous save.

NOTE : Difficulty has no bearing in DID. It should be set, according the comfort of the player. Pending things like character build, roleplay, limits, mods, and experience, this can easily vary among players.

If you want to try a run, feel free to list your new characters, with a backstory if you like. As well as, their starting stats and limitations. Update your progress. Much like the "Where are you now", thread. It's really not any different from most of your guy's/gal's playstyle...aside from the dead and done part.


When and if that happens, post their name, date of passing and any info you want to reflect on their tomb. I will list them in the OP, so they will be forever remembered.

NOTE : You must start a new character, in the thread, for them to be eligible for the Skyrim Memorial.

Player Tomb Listings :


1) I will list the players in alphabetical order.


2) The graves, of your fallen characters, will be added to your Tomb.


3) Any info on your char will be added, to their grave, according to your post.


4) Each character's grave will be limited, to 7 lines of info, for simplicity and unity. I will be more than happy, to tie a link to your character's name for pics and stats.


5) The Tombs will have a heading, with the players user name.


*NOTICE*

...With regards to the memorial...If you commit to a DID, your character dies and you post " My dude died, on such and such, but I'm going to continue playing him/her", OR you play with a varied version, like restarting from a "half-way point". That is NOT Dead Is Dead and you will NOT get added to the graveyard. This prompted a lot of frowns and nasty comments, in the other forum. So, we can prevent this before it happens.

Jacelyn is watching her step in Whiterun after being beaten nearly to death by Solaf in Falkreath. To be fair his brother did warn her that theft would be followed by regrets, and then Solaf awoke to find Jace’s hand in his pocket. Still, he could have stopped trying to murder her once the guards intervened.

The ride to Whiterun was lonely, but once secure in the Bannered Mare Jacelyn uncharacteristically chose to simply keep her own company. She took on her alchemist guise in her business around town, which is no longer a lie since she has become quite skilled in that craft. Farengar had the spells she wanted plus a few others that looked interesting. Now Jace can cast a decent ward, though she fears that without practice she would be cut to pieces if she tried to use it in any kind of confrontation.

Dawnstar is a long way from Whiterun, and Jacelyn is afraid. She has heard of frost trolls, snow bears, and snowy sabre cats in the northern holds. Any true Nord would be thrilled to test themselves against such beasts, but Jace is a Breton. She is thrilled to sleep in ‘til mid-day snugly wrapped in their furs.

The local taverns are home to several capable-looking mercenaries. Jacelyn has considered hiring one to replace her old partner, at least for the road trips. She will probably take the carriage to Dawnstar, though. It hasn’t occurred to her that she might travel with someone and not sleep with them, and she thinks she shouldn’t look for someone new until she can at least bring herself to say Vorstag’s name.

Rey has had a successful day, defeating Mirulmir, collecting Sam's staff and returning the missing flute to Solitude.


A bonus along the way was her first Dragon Priest encounter, taking on Vokun with the help of a young Mage. Certainly the toughest fight Rey has been in so far, drank her body weight in potions! Also had the misfortune of having her conjured dremora turned on her which was an unwelcome surprise!


Some nice rewards though, a cool word wall, first dragon priest mask, powerful staff and a flaming familiar spell which I never knew existed! Rey has no magical ability in this playthrough (as of yet) so for now it goes unused unfortunately.

Jacelyn doesn’t look for proof that she will have an afterlife. It’s not something she even has to believe, she knows it as surely as she knows that her mortal life will end. That’s part of the pull toward Sanguine. Rather than losing her identity in the Dreamsleeve she has a chance to stay herself in one of Sanguine’s realms. She hopes it will be one of the fun ones. Even without reading many books she knows that a deal with a Daedra is not always what one expects.

Sovngarde is certainly the goal of most of my Nord characters, though. They live with the knowledge that Nords are not judged by how they live, but by how they die. Although one has expressed an interest in dying naked in a pile of sweaty, giggling wood elves.

Back to the point of the thread, some of us play characters through a single, mortal life. When they die, that person is lost to us. It’s been discussed before that re-starts or reincarnations are welcome here under the restrictions outlined in the first post. I am delighted that we have a variety of playstyles here. I hope that the players who keep their characters/player avatars/gameplay avatars/or whatever you decide to call yours will respect the choices of those who let theirs go.

I love the whole Sovngard scene. Pity Shor's hall wasn't kinda bigger and more grand.....considering its containing at least in principle ALL the heroic Nords....like ever! I guess you have to use a good dose of imagination to back up the set piece provided by Beth.

Found herself on the wrong end of a giant's club.


These giants really are my nemesis. All Rey's health gone in one hit! She was finally on her way down towards Riften from Windhelm when a dragon caught her eye. Heading off the cracked road to fight the fearsome beast she was soon joined by two giants and their mammoth buddies.


They joined as allies and were a great help until they accidentally got in the way of Rey's fire breath shout. I was able to keep my distance while they were still distracted with the dragon but upon its death they quickly began their pursuit. One word of Storm Call and a conjured Dremora took the lead giant down to a quarter of its health and she began sniping with her bow from atop a rock. Too late she realised the rock was climbable by Giants and the club was a swingin'.

Ouch. Don't hang around in my experience you can usually outrun them so long as you have some stamina. Don't stay and fight it'll end badly unless you have a lot of health.

Um...commiserations and Sympathy Sulu.......go on....get back on the horse with Rey V. It seems heart breaking....but the experience is what counts and that just grows. Can you feel her now Sulu....you are building that bond....that 'friendship', reach inside and feel it my friend. Rey V will be better, stronger, faster and more of everything that makes your Rey shine.
