In the beginning there were Anu and Padomay, from them came the Et'Ada who made Creation.
The Godhead is where Anu and Padomay came from. Together they are called the Aurbis.
In an effort to understand itself, the Godhead split into two diametrically opposing infinite spheres, that you could call order and chaos, Padomay and Anu.
The interplay between order and chaos is where the Et'Ada come from, they made the Mundus, which is Creation.
The Mundus has the planet of Nirn at the centre on which is the continent of Tamriel.
Those Et'Ada that participated in Creation are also responsible for the Ehlnofey, the ancestors of everything on Nirn except the Hist.
You can see the entire Aurbis, and everything that it holds, as the Godhead splitting itself into ever smaller and smaller fragments so that it can try to understand itself. This is called subgradiation.
Two things to note:
-The Godhead is not self-aware. It doesnt think or have a will. It is said to be dreaming, or sleeping, those words are approximations.
In the anology the 'dream' is existence, which is the 'dreamer' trying to understand itself, to become self-aware, to 'wake up'.
-To the best of my knowledge no-one in the Aurbis knows about the Godhead and he has not appeared in any game or other official source. It is apochryphal lore.
However, it is a very apt anology that explains a lot of things and ties things neatly together, so for people to gain a good understanding of TES myth it is a useful tool.
