The 5 smartest person in lore

Post » Tue May 08, 2012 11:11 am

Hey you gotta give Mankar some credit, I mean he read the fricken Mysterium Xarxes okay who does that?
I can write a bunch of nonsensical hoopla as well, but I don't think people would take it seriously either. He may have some merit of intelligence to him, but in comparison to the rest of the TES series, he doesn't have THAT much going for him.

To those that said Mannimarco/Galerion, why him instead of Galerion/Mannimarco? They seem really switchable to me...
Easy, Mannimarco became a god and lived longer than Galerion. Galerion's only claim to fame, really, was creating the Mages Guild, in which he eventually left because he felt it was becoming too much of a bureaucratic and political mess. Mannimarco is more magically talented, as seen from the fact he outlived Galerion and surived Galerion's war against him, and better at playing politics, as seen in Daggerfall with how he too was part of that web.

KAGRENAC. IT'S SPELLED "KAGRENAC."
What? I didn't misspell anything.

That's more then five  also can you count Daedra?
Aedra and Daedra are too narrow classifiers. Everything was once et'Ada, so I see no reason to exclude Padhome.

Naw Mannimarco has to come first. He walked away from that fight somewhat alive. Galerion just died.

And let's not forget, the guy kept getting the Daedric Princes and their realms mixed up.

Hmm... I don't see Jiub among any of these lists. He got rid of the fricking CLIFF RACERS, you have to be pretty smart to do that. After all, there are so many of them.

He was Barbas incognito.

That is true, but on the other hand you could say Barbas is the Creeper with a new name and a new shape.

Martin along with Cyrus is now canonized as a Lore Saint. While Cyrus represents Ockham's Razor (or saber), which cuts through the confusion and nonsense to always arrive at the simple answer, a bane of the big-shot intellectuals and blowhards; Martin represents the successful scholar who decodes the impossibly complex and convoluted. See his astonishing work at making sense of the Mysterium Xarxes. Armed only with his threadbare cloak and anolytical skills, he sifted through the intellectual maze that is the library, and after only a short time managed to figure out the Xarxes, coming to the same correct conclusions that Camoran did, and the kicker is that Martin didn't touch Camoran's Commentaries in the process. Akatosh bless you, Martin, and may you in turn bless us with your godly skills of exegesis.

I know y'all have talked about whether to include aedra/daedra, but if we ARE then how has Jygalagg not been mentioned?! He had the entire future planned out in a library... Although that whole Sheogorath thing does kind of present an obstacle to actually proving his knowledge.

He was able to read the book, even if he seemed naive most of the time. Then again, he's Sean Bean, so give him some slack, yo. The guy is practically obligated to take a sword through the chest at everything, save for being Sergeant Sharpe (great ass books if you love war heroes in the late 18th century.)

Jygalagg.... lol I kinda think Sheogorath made him up in order to trick the Champion into mantling him.

No one says Tiber Septim...the guy who became a god? Remember him? Forged an Empire...kicked ass all around the continent...no?

Also

Sotha Sil or Kagrenac

Vivec

Divayth Fyr or the Altmer(Phynaster) that taught the other Atlmer how to live 100 more years by changing the way they walk.

and to be not so different...Maiq. Clearly he is partial to some type of wisdom we just are not seeing...

Tiber Septim was a great Military General and Leader but you can't compare the intelligence of the mortal Septim to people like Fyr or Vivec. If you count Tiber Septim as Talos, however....

Well that's just unfair.

EDIT:
My list (not counting et'Ada, Aedra or Daedra):
1. Vivec
2. Kagrenac (Velorian, spelling?)
3. Sotha Sil
4. Fyr
5. Mannimarco

Including aforementioned exclusions:
1. Magnus
3. Lorkhan
3. Talos
4. Akatosh
5. Herma Mora
