Tiber Septim was a great Military General and Leader but you can't compare the intelligence of the mortal Septim to people like Fyr or Vivec. If you count Tiber Septim as Talos, however....

Well that's just unfair.
He was more than just a great military leader. But he did become a god. That has to count for something imo.

This thread half reminds me of the beginning of Hallgerd's tale, with everyone debating who the greatest warrior mind in all of Tamriel is/was.

Not counting aedra and deardra I believe you would have Kragenac and then 4 of his fellow dwemer, the race were supposed to be unimaginbly intelligent.

Counting the aedra and deadra I have no idea, but I believe Azura would be on the list along with Hermeous Mora.

Naw Mannimarco has to come first. He walked away from that fight somewhat alive. Galerion just died.
Galerion's gotta win this one, he created the Mages Guild, he created ALL the known enchanting, alchemy, spell classes, etc.......... Known on Tamriel. And the only reason Mannimarco became a god is through Profane means which Galerion refused too use.

Galerion never had a chance to be a god. He missed that whole "resurfacing of the Totem of Tiber Septim" thing by quite a bit.

The Psijic Order invented that. Galerion just classified everything. Only Mannimarco can be said to have truly invented a spell school.

He did find a way to make magic easier to use for everybody out there. Which is something the Psijic order never did, then again they were never interested either.

I'm not so sure about the main characters, I've RPed some rather unintelligent ones.

Not to mention the main character in each game, save for Daggerfall and Battlespire, were made to look like gullible dopes more often than not.

Even with super intelligence potions in MW you still have to be told everything that's going on. There outta be some sort of intelligence threshold where once you cross it you begin to posit the secrets of the universe.

Not sure about that, but damn, I do want to actually play a character who isn't a bumbling moron for once. More or less, I'd wish they kept things like strength and intelligence in game, in which if they were at a certain level they'd open up more dialog options, particularly intelligence.

Why bring them back when you could perks for more dialog options?

That's different to inventing the magics themselves.

Dyviath Fyr (he can go to other planes to!!) Thou, where he is located, even at 4000+ years might not be upto date)
Sotha Sil Smart, but probaly not the smartest.
Kagrenac (probaly the top person)
Vivic All in-game books you read show he is one smart sob.

Kagrenac i think is the smartest. Alot of people followed his work, and it'll be sometime before anyone gets to his level.

5th one... no clue. Nervaine only because.. she reflects me, and I read every book in the game, and absorb so much info... 200's with Akvari. She getting up there.

Really, the only mages that "invented" anything were the Psijics. Everyone else after them were either categorizing them, or innovating on previous ideas. Galerion made the schools, yes, but the spells already existed.

As I know, The Psijics "discovered" Mysticism. They knew mysticism spells long before it became a school of magic.

Why bring them back when you could perks for more dialog options?

KAGRENAC. IT'S SPELLED "KAGRENAC."

My list is:
1. Vivec
2. The Dwemer
3. The Dwemer
4. The Dwemer

If the Dwemer are so smart, why aren't they there to stop me from taking and breaking their stuff?

Shalidor created spell reflection, basing it off the ward placed on Spellbreaker.
