The Snow Elves

Subtlety is key guys, a definitive answer would be lame.
We've already been told that there is pretty much no record of the Falmer anywhere, except for the small amount we found on Solstheim, so why would we suddenly start finding a bunch of ruins and crap in Skyrim?
The whole point is that there is no answer, the mystery is what makes them appealing.

I can get behind the argument in this post. Even more approving of the choice of avatar.

I liked the mysteriousness of the Dwemer and finding the old artifacts.. but at the same time I wished there was some way to meet one. But maybe that's better. The mystery not the actual meeting of. Not sure.
I voted some remote surviving few who live in isolation.. Although the mystery and non appearance would probably be more fun to explore.

In Morrowind you can meet an Dwemer, Yagram Bagarn. He lives in the east of Morrowind, with an Telvanni wizard-lord.. probaply dead at the time of TES:V but if you play Morrowind..

I think there will be some Falmer left in Skyrim, probably hidden away in some secret cavern or mountain vally.

Unlike the Dwemer or the Ayleids, the falmer left almost no trace of their existance. This would suggest that they probably never were a sovereign nation/kingdom/empire with advanced culture, architecture and technology. It is quite possible they lived much like the Ashlanders lived in Morrowind, a more or less tribal society that only on very rare occassion unified under a common ruler. Had they been an advanced and proeminent civilisation they would most definately have left at least written records and some architecture behind. So, I can only see two possibilities: either they did leave *some* relics/information behind but this fact is largely unknown in the rest of the empire (Solstheim/Morrowind included), or they were a tribal, relatively primitive society wiped out by the nords long ago.

By the way, neither of these options exclude the possibility that some secretive, reclusive tribe doesn't still exist somewhere in the rugged landscape of Skyrim.

I hope there are some Falmer left to be encountered in Skyrim, and if they do not regret their ancestors slaughter of the Nords (Nedes), then I will end the last Snow Elves right where they stand!

You cant really justify killing a whole race based on the fact that blank thousand years ago the nord killed virtually everyone of them they could find simply brcause the nords hated them....then who is the true monster where does it end will you kill off the dunmer the altmer the bosmer(if they all start saying by Azura By Azura by Azura I will) but seriously the nords may having been fighting to preserve their homeland and secure a nation of their own but in A way so was germany not all were crazy jew haters but still you can't justify genocide in their case so why can we justify yours....?

this is all hypothetical anyway I got some pics I found on deviant art I dont know if I can post em (they arent mine) I went through like a thousand things under snow elf so yeah plus I don't have the links just the pics and I dont even now if you can post those (I never see anyone posting anything but links) but yeah there are a few people may find that could fit the bill.

How I ask can anyone justify killing of a race solely for the fact they don't forgive you for nearly killing them off in the first place?

It just boggles the mind....

I think they would fear the dragon born if the falmers last allie is the dragon and the dragon borns the last dragon killer as state the falmer at full strength couldn't win so as weak as they wud be now they'd need the dragons help, the last dragon born could really screw that up. Epic stuff coming up in this thread, hope the story we get touches on at least some of the stuff talked about in this thread.

uhhhhm ... Why would the nords have destroyed all their architecture? They didn't destroy the dwemer stuff, they moved into one of their cities :P When you raid an enemies city, what do you do? Kill the people and leave the infrastructure so the people can work for YOU under the new regime. Or if you want to wipe them out you leave the houses because its easier than building your own.

You need to think like someone bent on world domination ;)

Generally you kill them all or enslave them, use what you can, let the rest fall down, and eventually start taking the raw building materials out of existing buildings to construct your own, leading to the destruction of the original settlement.

I'd like to keep it unexplained and open to interpretation. Perhaps it'd be cool if you could encounter a strange, robed figure in the wilderness who resembles a Falmer, and later disappears. Kind of like Talos at Ghostgate. Just to keep the player wondering.

I would like to see some references to them in the game. It would be nice to uncover some mysteries involving them, or finding some evidence of their existence. I'm not totally opposed to finding out the still exist, as long as there is some good writing around it.

Why would that Altmer be looking for evidence that they even existed on Solstheim if their ruins were in abundance in Skyrim?

Like the Dwemer and Ayleid, except they left nothing behind but stories and rumors.

According to our current knowledge of them, they haven't left any evidence behind, not even ruins.

I think they should have a mountain stronghold deep in the tundra where if you get to them it will be like the Brotherhood of Steel in New Vegas. But it will be all elder scrolls like not like a very similar copy and paste. You will need to gain their trust by helping them imagine a Skyrim mix of the Bommers and the brotherhood. I think that it would be cool to have a hidden race deep in hiding where they will be almost impossible to get to. I think it would be cool you are starving in the tundra and you are tracking your horse that got spooked when you were ambushed a few days back by bandits now you are wounded and hungry and you stumble upon and ancient civilization who saves your life but at what cost will you die be enslaved or eventually set free?

It ckearly says in the GI article 10 playable races.

Breton, Imperial, Nord, Redguard, Dunmer, Bosmer, Altmer, Orc, Khajiit, Argonian.

That's Ten races. Unless they eliminate one of the previously playable races Falmer aren't likely to be included.

It would be cool if you met someone with a mask who was implied to be Falmer or something. He's acting like a totally normal...um...masked person but maybe it is implied by his dialogue (for those who pick it apart) that he is a Falmer...or the blue ears, that might give it away too...

I want you to be able to find one or two undiscovered Falmer ruins, but no more. They should be left mostly as a mystery.
