The Snow Prince

Post » Fri May 04, 2012 6:42 am

So, in case you didn't see the Kotaku article, someone found some lines of code in a recent Skyrim patch that included mention of the Snow Prince (as well as crossbows, interestingly enough). This all comes after Pete Hines stated that it was about time for DLC information to be revealed.

DLC01\Chair_SnowElfPrinceDialogueA.HKX
crossbow_direction_behavior.hkx

So, assuming for the moment this is reliable information, is it possible that the Snow Prince survived the Battle of the Moesring, contrary to "Fall of the Snow Prince"?

Oh yeah, it's my first non-monkeytruth/apocrypha thread.

I would love an angry sect of Falmer rip [censored] pissed and ready to knock some asses around...and aren't completely degenerate.

The snow prince surviving his encounter with a wee girl hurling a sword at the poor guy? Possible, but I would find it odd that the Nords would make a tomb and chuck his spear in. Its possible that the Nords did that, somehow jacked his/a spear and tossed it in a tomb to hide the fact that they were completely and utterly disgraced by a Mer on the field of battle. Or he rose of from the grave to wreak his horrible vengeance. I guess it depends on how it all goes down, but you don't have to be the Snow prince to be crowned Snow prince, unless these are indeed the same individual.

Yeah, it's equally as possible that the Snow Prince mentioned in the code I posted is not the same individual. I'd say it's more unlikely that non-monstrous Falmer have survived in the first place, but here we are.

The Snow Prince could be a lich, or some kind of male Wispmother (which could be liches, anyway).

So my bet's on necromancy.

(Funnily enough, the mod I'm making involved a number of Falmer resurrecting the Snow Prince. Looks like I might need a new end boss.)

Personally, I choose to misinterpret those file names as indicating we will encounter a sapient, moving chair that refers to itself as the "snow prince."

Could it be another "neverine" type deal?
If so, my bet is the PC being it.

Surviving non-mutated Falmer would be kind of cool. Wouldn't that be the first new non monster race in the game?

Nah, the first new non-monster race was the imperials.

I thought they had always been in the series?

Nope. They didn't pop up until Morrowind.

Well, there were the orcs...but aside from that, this would be the first mythical race we only heard about but never got to actually interact with them.

Ahh fair enough, I haven't played Daggerfall very often to remember.

If they do bring the Falmer back, I hope its in depth. Not just "DERP KILL THE FALMER!"

I would love to see the actual Falmer, just so that I could view them alongside the twisted monsters they have become and know just how far they fell. Lost civilizations always make me get all weepy.

But the cranky traditionalist inside me would prefer to leave the playable races as they are. Ten is a good number, and we don't need any more damn elves.

I would only expect them to stay a NPR since this is merely a DLC, besides, I would think if they wanted the Falmer to be a playable race, they would of just included it in the main game as is.

We need more beastfolk. Sload and Imga, plz, tyvm.

Oh, and actually on topic: Interesting. Perhaps the "expansion-feeling" sized DLC will take us back to Solstheim. As for the DLC "pack" they're threatening for release, maybe its a lead-in prologue of sorts?

It would annoy me no end if they rehashed old locations. Would reek of laziness.

You all are joking right? Please tell me you are.

The reason the snow prince was placed in a burrow was because the nords respected the warrior spirit within him, the falmer have no way of actually forming an army big enough to take over the surface, plus they are blind, the surface would confuse them and cause them to attack EVERYTHING. No Falmer could escape the dwemer and the few who did eventually mixed into the societies of the other mer and the offspring ended up turning into those of that race, even if they did hold a grudge that long and hide away theres no way they could form a civilized society underground without going mad.

The falmer are gone, snow prince is NOT a lich nor will he be revived it most likely will just be the ruined castle of the falmer which most likely will be inhabited by the crazed falmer. Theres also no hope for the Falmer, they'll remain like that until they are either killed into extinction or overpopulate and die from hunger or getting killed when they try to get out into the surface.

I have heard that the files have been labelled to suggest that there will be dialogue attributed to a 'Snow Elf Prince.' I myself am surprised at the suggestion that the Snow Elves will be returning, but that is what the current information seems to indicate.

The current information being, of course, incomplete, unofficial and unclear.

I really hope so, my character is obsessed with the Falmer. Being an Orsimer he feels most akin to the Dunmer and Falmer, mostly pity for the Falmer.....

You should hate the dunmer, the chimer's god did eat yours and turn your race into what you are and ended up being considered the lowliest of the mers. But yea the falmer are a sad case but even Mara says theres no hope and there really is no way to do some crazy magic and instantly turn them back and even still it doesn't mean they'll be civilized, just means they'll be savage elves.

The Dunmer are cursed like the Orsimer, and my character follows the Nine Divines.

I wouldn't really say the change was a curse, the dunmer did want to be different then their altmeri cousins and they kinda got their wish. Anyway back on topic its still pretty stupid to think that the Snow Prince is coming back, even if he did he wouldn't be a lich or help the falmer, he'd most likely be a ghost.

Eh, I still see it as a curse, haha.

Anyways! Perhaps its a new one. A self proclaimed Prince if you will, a leader of say twenty to thirty elves?

Even so he wouldn't be a prince of ALL the falmer and he would still be 100% a savage beast, the falmer live in tribes with no way of contacting each other or even the outside world. Plus to all you who think the snow prince is a lich, hate to break it to you but his remains show up in bloodmoon.

I'd say the pure blooded Snow Elves wouldn't view the Falmer as kin. So, that'd be all that was left of Snow Elves. If nothing else, I'll get to see what one looks like, besides that statue! haha
Maybe a new race in ES:VI? =p

Nope, wanting the falmer too return is like wanting the dwemer too return, never ever happening.
