The Spell-Scar Incident

Post » Tue Dec 29, 2009 4:07 am

Taking a page from Immortalblood, I'm opening an OOC thread so players can discuss things with each other in a place that wouldn't clog the actual thread itself.

So if you guys need to say anything, this thread is here.

I'm in the waterfront, so any current residents of the locale would likely have heard the small explosion of Zoleece's magic. Just for something you guys can do while waiting for the ship.

I enjoyed the fight with the tenticle dude, will all combat be so sudden?

Nice idea. And although I am in the Waterfront, and probably would have heard the explosion it would be too shorter post to make any thing of, so I shall wait until the ship comes in...

Also one of the new commers has added a post as 'the morning' though it was said that the ship would dock in about an hour.. :S

I do rather hope the thread continues to be crowded. That way I won't have to write fight posts. And yes, the tentacle thingy was cool.

But somehow I managed to reference it into tentacle [censored].

I'll make another post then that you might be able to better respond to.

And the tentacle thing was awesome, gave me a flashback of a similar thing I tried in my small, now dead rp on Illusionaria. I hope more fights are like that.

I pulled myself out of the RP for now, I can't really make a decent enough post. I might kick myself in later on, though.

Ya that was me who said the "morning" thing. I was talking as if it was earlier that day, as in, before the events of the tentacle monster and all of your guys' posts. Sorry if it was confusing, I'm a bit confused myself with the placement of everything. But just so everyone knows, I am on the Waterfront. And so far, my lazy butt has been sitting their getting drunk with my Nord friend, and nothing else has happened in my neck of the woods, aside from the other Waterfront residents.

I'm glad. I've noticed that in a lot of RPs, you can usually see a crisis coming up from a long way off, and the end of the crisis is rather "meh". With having more sudden, short, and confusing encounters, I hope to introduce a certain level of "fear" when you're prowling around the city, just as your character should be feeling. No more lolling about in the streets of Kvatch, chatting it up with your party members and having drama. Save that for safe locations.

But no, not ALL encounters will be that sudden. A few will though. Heck, sometimes the players might even get the drop on some enemies.

I do rather hope the thread continues to be crowded. That way I won't have to write fight posts. And yes, the tentacle thingy was cool.

I came to the conclusion that having a good deal of people in an RP is a good thing. It starts out a little chaotic, but it eventually makes it better. If a few people are gone, there are always plenty of more to RP with.

And I was about to make a comment about Japenese Schoolgirls when I started this thread, I really was.

And the tentacle thing was awesome, gave me a flashback of a similar thing I tried in my small, now dead rp on Illusionaria. I hope more fights are like that.

I really wasn't expecting the tentacle creature to go over so well. An enemy that is so much bigger, so much stronger, and so much scarrier than the RPers can sometimes cause some hard feelings.

............

I've updated the OP in the RP thread. I've added a bestiary for all the creatures that are encountered in the RP. If you have an idea for a mutant or a monster, feel free to show the idea in this thread.

Exactly. And since atleast half the people are going to drop out soon, I imagine it'll be down to normal size pretty soon.

This is one of the finer RPs I've been in and we've just got started. Nice work on the organization of it, Verlox. It's really exciting!

I also liked the whole tentacle thingy. I wonder though, will we be encountering it again at some point? Might make for an interesting encounter if it springs up again in a different setting.

Hmkay, but you might have to suspend things in time for me to get there :)

Maybe.....maybe not.

The OP will be constantly expanding, to encompass not only locations, but people, more creatures, and rumours the characters might hear. This is gonna be huge, guys. I'm working right now on fleshing out the districts of the city more.

Sounds good.

By the by, you can use Zoleece's ramblings to create monsters as well. If any ideas arise from his mutterings, use 'em. :P I can make him a fountain of horror inspiration for you, directly within the thread too! No Pming ideas!

I'm thinking poor Verlox doesn't know what he's created. He'll be bugged with this RP night and day for ages :P

Perhaps in a sewer? You never know.

And I have an idea for a creature for the Beastiary

OK, the name I'm having trouble with, but basically its-

An Ogre-like creature with horns that vomits lava/fire and has immense strength. The creature is uncommon but is said to roam The Market District and The Arboretum. The Olgrum (maybe?) is a true freak, said to be part human and possibly something of a necromantic origin.

I'm not good with descriptions, but hey, its something else to look out for.

I was considering that, then I remembered that I have no artistic ability. Maps would only be truly useful for the more "dungeon-like" areas, like inside the Imperial Prison, the Arcane University, and the Sewers. Though I suppose general maps of each district, with points of interest would be pretty cool. Anyone we know who could possibly do something like that?

You have no idea. Technically, the OP wasn't finished in the form it was in, and it still has so much to do. I'm in the process of making more plot hooks/quests for the characters to undertake beyond the two I have right now that will be get everything started once the characters are better acquainted with each other. There's making new critters, NPC's, factions within the city, there's so much to do. But it will be worth it in the end I think.

When I saw you write about that, I was like, "I could totally use that!" I can try to flesh it out some more.

Yeah, the sewer thing was actually what I was thinking of when posting that. Fighting that thing in a sewer though would be pretty tricky, I imagine. And if we're throwing around ideas for monsters, I have a few floating around that never made it into The City of Shadows... I'll have to look for those papers...

I'll give it a shot, but I can't say anything will be produced for about a week, seen as I have exams and all... I like drawing, and think i'm okay at it... My lack of a scanner may hinder me though, but i'll see what I can find.

The next GM post will be coming along pretty soon. So if you guys wanna get your characters introduced to each other and really make official that you're gonna be a traveling company, I suggest doing it on the boat. What better place to find comrades than on a battle-field.

Here we are for mutant ideas. I know it's not quite descriptive writing, but art is the next best thing..
