According to Fallout lore, the U.S. was divided into 13 commonwealths in the 21st century. However, I never really liked the flag. One big star and 12 smaller ones implies that one state ruled over the other. So, on this topic you can use your creative skills to make your own 13 star flag or discuss your opinions on the Fallout one.

The middle star represents the Columbia Commonwealth, which is Virginia, Maryland, and DC.

So it does rule over the others, in a sense.

Also, I think Bethesda may have screwed up the flag a bit. We never actually saw the entire flag in FO1 and FO2 (the one time being with it partially cut-off in the FO1 intro), but Word of God states that it was basically the old colonial flag with a single large star added to the middle.

That was before Fallout 3 came out.

Well, the mistake was actually originally Chris Avellone's in the Fallout Bible. It was later cleared up by JE Sawyer with info from T-Ray Isaac who designed the flag, but Betheda probably didn't know it, and followed Avellone's version.

I suppose we can't really fault them for following the Bible then. Still, it would've been nice to use what was intended.

I like your design. Think it would look better if the star in the middle was bigger though.
