The statue behind the Khajiit

Post » Mon May 02, 2011 11:09 pm

First off,I tried to discuss the statue in the Orc and Khajiit thread but nobody was biting, which is why I made this thread.
The first thing I noticed was that the "man" in the statue is wearing a cloak over his armor.Do you think that might be a good indication that we will have this option for our character aswell?
Second,do you think this is a shrine? If so,do you have any idea who's shrine it may be?
Other than that I guess any other speculation on the statue itself can be discussed here.I personallly think that the statue steals the show over the Khajiit. They both look amazing dont get me wrong. My eyes were just drawn to the statue more that's all.

You should probably post a link to the screenshot for those unfortunate people who have not seen it yet.

And it's just a statue, dude.

Looks to me like the statue of Talos, in Markarth maybe? Can't really be sure on the locations since we haven't seen the styles of all the major cities yet. Or it could be in some sort of secluded mountain monastery/shrine.

Well, considering that the statue is Talos(Seen in a concept art) he plays a big part, perhaps that is why they wanted peoples eyes to be drawn to it, being a Dragonborn himself and what not..

But you say about a cloak over the armour, they have said more on customisation so it isn't a long shot to say it is a possibility, but judging something by a model in game, is a bit misleading as you see alot of Oblivion statues wearing things you could not wear and so on, but hopefully you could put a cloak over armour as that would just be bad ass.

Who knows. You can say yes or no and be no closer to having any idea.

There were statues in Oblivion wearing armor you both could and couldn't wear.

He's killing a Serpent

Implications?

the Warrior Birthsign has caught and killed the Serpent.

Something we don't know about yet concerning the Lore.

Talos killed a Giant snake?

Snake is Alduin? would make sense as world eater (I stand by Akatosh being Alduin, anyone that says otherwise is extremely likely NOT familiar with lore)

I did not realize it was Talos.Thank you guys for pointing that out.I think the statue is very well done with plenty of detail.I also did not realize there were statues in Oblivion that were wearing armor that you could not wear. The only thing I say to that,is that this is not Oblviion, this is SKYRIM.

So what if it is Skyrim? Unless it is the statues in Oblivion done by FullActorCopying your player they are modelled separately to the games characters, therefore the modellers can go all willy nilly on clothing, so my guess the clothing a statue has doesn't correspond with any of the clothing items in the released game.. But like before it would be nice to have cloaks that can be layered over armour.

Is that supposed to be something significant? They are ALL TES, NEVER seperate them. there is no such thing as an Oblivion fan or Morrowind fan or Daggerfall fan what silly people forget is they are all preceded by THE ELDER SCROLLS.

So get together or gtfo :tes:

All I was saying is that this is a new game.So maybe that statue is a clue that we can wear cloaks over armor.Who knows?
I just wanted peoples opinions and I got them.Im just not sure why some of you need to be such jerks about it.I dont see how I was being rude in any way.Does it make you all feel better or something, lol.
For the other people who were giving your opinions in a normal manner, thank you.

Indeed, it seems pretty clear that it's the same statue.

And I wouldn't take the statue as a sign that cloaks are in, because it's only a stature, there's no guarentee that everything depicted in it can be used in game, Oblivion had statues that showv weapons or armor not usable in game too, in fact, I think there are even statues with beards. Now, I'm not trying to shoot down any series you might reach from this statue, I'm just saying that it doesn't really prove anything, if we actually see a screenshot of someone wearing a cloak, then THAT will be something we can go on.
