The statue outside Bruma Castle : The Elder Scrolls Series Discussion

I'm not referring to the player's statue at the end of the main quest.

I had just done Arnora's money quest and got a book about Rislav the Righteous. As I read about it, I discovered the statue in Skingrad was Rislav. Is there a book that talks about the statue of the guy who looks like he's angry and yelling or hulking out, outside Bruma Castle?

All other statues have been identified. This guy hasn't. I like to think it's the founder of Bruma, though.

He does seem to have imperial dragon armor on, so if he is Tiber that would fit. Maybe a propaganda statue to reaffirm faith in him, he looks far more imposing than the Talos statue in the square. Perhaps it is a Remen?

It's not Talos, there is already a statue of Talos in Bruma and in several other places. Talos is the old guy in robes holding a sword in front of him. It can't be Martin either, because it's there even when Martin is a simple monk and not a hero.

The name in the CS, by the way, is no clue - it's just "StatueTownBruma01".

Well, my guide doesn't say anything about the statues, but from a past thread about that I'd say no. All the other statues are identified as various gods and historical figures, but the Bruma one is a mystery.

Then it may be Tiber in his younger years when he had flowing locks and better lungs. It could also be a Pale Pass hero, or Remen himself just shouting: "Move out men! My peg-legged granny can scoot faster than you bastards; the snakes won't kill themselves you know!"

well bruma is where the chapel of talos is, and the statue looks like its wearing imperial dragon armor. and iirc usually only emporers wear imperial dragon armor.

I don't know. It really wouldn't make sense to have two different statues of the same man in the same town. I'd say that a Remen makes the most sense.

They aren't the same man. One is Talos, his divine incarnation, and the other is Tiber Septim, Mighty Ysmir, Dragon of the North, using his Thu'um.

i dont see it as strange. Talos/Tiber is a major god/hero of Cyrodiil, so it makes sense to have him represented multiple times. there are tons of statues of Lincoln and Washington in the USA, for example.

again, i dont know if it actually is Tiber, it just came to mind.

The statue in front of the chapel is not unique to Bruma (look at the Arboretum) but the shouting man is. It makes sense that they would have the Nordic interpretation of Talos depicted, especially as local preference for the Dragon Ysmir is mentioned in dialog.

The two statues being in the same town is irrelevant if we consider that maybe they were crafted at different times. Perhaps the armored statue is a statue of the "emperor" from when Tiber was alive. The statue in front of the chapel is of Talos, his divine aspect, and belongs to the chapel. Technically the statues are of two different things. One is a statue of a past emperor and the other is a statue of the god to whom the local chapel is devoted. They just both happen the be the same person.
