The stempack animation and why it should be an option

Post » Mon Feb 15, 2016 2:04 pm

On most of my travels surviving on survival I've died due to the 3 or so seconds it takes for the animation to be over full medic perk but on multiple occasions I've died due to the stempacks animation I think it would be nice to be able turn it off or on in the options menu. What do you think?

Nope. I like it how it is. Makes me plan a bit in advance.

I think you should take the animation into consideration before you use a stimpak.

I am glad it exists, why should it be instant?

If you wear a PA, there is an option to mod it so it will auto use stimpacks when your health is too low.

I love extra animations for things. Stimpak is especially make it more realistic. It's also make it more strategic like reload guns and things like that.

Take cover first? Or if you want to make even less sense, eat a bunch of food, mid fight, to heal.

But if could be an option, basically will be added in the options. The menu is created for this! Set the game in the way you want. Or at the least if you have pc or mac: MODS!

Pointless mod. While in PA you already have an injector that removes the animation anyways.

Well, I guess they could add it as an option, but I love what the animation adds to the combat flow.

It is heaps better than immediate health kick.

I think it is one of the best new features honestly. If you wanted it to be an option, I guess that wouldn't be a bad thing, but I like how it makes it harder to abuse stim paks so it serves as a good gameplay device too. I hope they make potion drinking animations for the next Elder Scrolls in fact, ha ha.

If you're ever at the point where you're about to run out of health, you can pop some Buffout to buff your health a bit, too. Bobrov's Best and Vodka help, too, especially after the second rank of Party Boy/Girl. And if you need to regen health even faster, especially in Survival, stimpaks and other healing items will stack for more and faster healing.

Agreed. Feels more realistic instead of something that feels too instant not to mention the extra level of danger it gives to situations.

Fairs fair, the foes that use stimpaks stop fighting as well.

My character stopped using them a long time ago.

He only eats before and after battle.

When health gets low he retreats and eats.

I'd like to see an eating animation.

Getting out the Deathclaw steaks, stabbing them with his knife and tearing into them with his teeth.

Should guns just magically appear in your hands without an animation of you drawing the gun? These animations add realism. If a Stimpak was a real thing and you were actually using one, you'd have to go through the motions (which would likely take far longer in real life), and I wouldn't want it to be any different in the game. I think a better plan would be to account for this animation and use the Stimpak before you're one shot away from being dead.

I'm not sure how Stimpack animations work in Fallout 4, but I say keep it and never make it instantaneously.

Take cover, then use it.

Don't stand "happy-merry" in open while doing it because of course you will die then.

It would also be super great if you could turn on drinking, looting. sleeping and eating animations for the player. Anyway I think they did it that way so folks like me would be happy with the animation at least for stimpacks and the spammers could use food

That would be funny. In the heat of battle. Hold up a minute, gotta warm up my Salisbury Steak.

Queen Mirelurk Steaks taste best when they're served room temperature...

I've started disregarding Stimpacks almost completely since I can go into the menu, eat, and not only regain health without going through an animation, but also lower my carry weight by up to 2 or 3 pounds depending on what type of food or water is consumed. I wish the game had an option to feed my companion in combat, instead of using a stim on them.

I'd say the delay with animation was put in intentionally so as not to make Stempaks a 100% guarantee save-my-butt when you are in a tough situation and wait too long to pop one. Like someone else said, it makes things a little bit more strategic.

No need for an option to turn it off. If you don't want to die while the animation plays then take it into account and use the stempak sooner.

I think food works way better than stimpacks (plus you get the buff from whatever you ate) and its instantaneous.
