The storm cloaks

Post » Thu Dec 15, 2011 4:21 pm

Just recently i joined the storm cloaks and am about to fight for white run, does this affect anything in the game? and does it matter at the start of the game, i followed the imperials out of the city where Alduin attacked.

Yes. Certain houses in Whiterun will be destroyed and rendered unusable, for example Heimskrs house off the top of my head, and Vignar becomes Jarl.

Why would you join the Stormcloaks?

Because they are much better than the scrawny weak empire. Who is the puppet of the Thalmor

Why would you join the Stormcloaks?

I'm joining the stormcloaks because I saw a procession of people and asked some questions. I noticed one of the people was a Nord and was curious why his hands were bound.

As I asked, this elf accused me of various things that were not true and had a very bad attitude towards me. Then the 3 that were free, attacked me so I killed them.

I couldn't believe it but after freeing the Nord, he told me about Elfrick Stormcloak and I started learning about him and his group. They sounded like a group that was aligned with my thoughts so I joined or I'm trying to join. They don't trust me yet but they will in time.

I don't remember seeing any destroyed houses.

Why would you join the Stormcloaks?

Because the last time i saw the imperials they tried to kill me, does it matter that i had followed the imperial dude at the start of the main quest

This is a non-spoiler forum. So I suggest you two read "The Great War" online or in book format, listen to Ulfric closely and have a good look in the Thalmor Embassy and their files.

Not actually destroyed, just blocked off with rubble.

I visit them daily, you can see my posts, but I keep out of the Spoiler area at all cost. Still, despite the heavily Pro-Stormcloak introduction and portion of the main quest, the Empire didn't ban Talos lightly, it was either that or certain defeat. The stormcloak uprising only made it worse and made the Dominion turn their eyes on Skyrim. All in all, those points have yet to be refuted to me.

You'll just see some new faces around town, some new dialogues from the merchants and things. But nothing significant. (I was shocked too that I had to fight in Whiterun! My house is there! lol)

This was how I used to think but after ALLOT of research i realised the Thalmor and Imperials are both as weak as each other... the Thalmor could not take Daggerfall EVEN when the empire abandoned them ... the Thalmor aren't any stronger than the Empire.

The banning of Talos worship and his subsequent loss of power as a result are the entire reason that the world nearly ended. Sorry, but choosing to preserve the Empire at the risk of destroying the world is simply foolish.

Besides, the Empire hasn't looked out for the interests of its provinces in years, decades, centuries even. Everyone is suffering under Imperial rule (which is why everyone and their brother is breaking free of them).

The Thalmor are just as worried about Ulfric becoming High King as they are about the Empire holding control.

Despite that glaring fact, I have completed BOTH questlines on separate characters. I favour the Stormcloaks because of Ulfric himself, the person who acted him is superb, the writing is also top notch. General Tullius just seemed boring in comparison, no personality all duty. Ulfric shows a lot of passion throughout the quest, that's why I enjoyed it more. There's enough boring, mundane characters in Skyrim as it is.

It's good when a game can create debate with its story. Having visited these forums often recently shows that niether the Imperials or Stormcloaks have an in game clear name. What is true and isn't hasn't really been set in cannon (or it seems a lot of Imperial players would disagree it has been refuted. Counter arguments have offered up, but have not refuted views on Ulfric based on things in game. And vice versa - Imperial wrongs etc).

Tell me how an empire who fought a war against the invading Dominion constantly under brutal circumstances and war would keep their population happy in the aftermath? Once more, the Empire was lazy and didn't bother with Skyrim, talking to the captains and even the General himself points out people were allowed to practice Talos freely, so long it was hush-hush.

But here comes pompous Ulfric, which I absolutely despised when travelling to Windhelm [ Yes, I actually wanted to sign up there first. ], killing the High King. If he was corrupt or not, at least the Dominion didn't barge into Skyrim afterwards and started dragging people down the streets. The weakened Empire HAD to crack down because of the Dominion.

If anything, Ulfric is the cause of destruction of the world if he had his way..But we wouldn't know that without further DLC or games. But I am off to play some Saints Row III. Good day to you!

certain defeat is bs, they could have easily pressed the advantage and pushed the thalmor back to valenwood at least, they are just giving the thalmor time to regroup and allowing them to take the empire down person by person by simply calling the person a talos worshiper
