The Stormcloaks (aka The Rebels)

Post » Tue Aug 09, 2011 8:37 am

Personally I hope any player role in the civil war involves working with both sides to bring the conflict to an end rather than throwing my lot in with one against the other. If choosing sides is the only way you can involve yourself, I'll probably try to stay out of it. If that's impossible, I'll probably be Empire. After all, I think this Esbern character is supposed to be an important advisor figure and he's a Blade, isn't he?

The Blades might not support the Mede Empire, however.

...
Then I was presented three of choices. I could do nothing, free the prisoner, or free the prisoner and give him an item, which I assumed in this case would be a weapon so he could defend himself against his captors.
...

Something is telling me we can not join rebels in the game...

Guess why?

aren't the Blades part of the Imperial empire ruled by the Uriel Septim, and also exactly what is the Mede Empire?

I see your point. Perhaps those choices will be changed and "do nothing" is just there until you are actually in the faction, I hope.

Elaborate because I doubt you could join factions when first meeting them, if you do nothing your neutral which down the road eventually be able to join em. But maybe it's impossible.

Several years after the Oblivion Crisis, the Septim Empire collapsed. Shortly after that, Titus Mede, a Colovian warlord, attacked and conqured the Imperial City. He, as of the Infernal City, has been attempting to reconquer all of Tamriel. He replaced the Blades with his own bodyguard.

I get the impression that they are a smaller faction within the rebellion. Of course, this depends entirely on how I read the info.

collectors edition promotional screenshot show 3 unique screen shots im taking a hunch that there are 2 other different icons hidden under the promo items and each icon represent the 5 nord factions/ citys wanting to claim skyrim under there rank leaving player to choose which faction to use through game progression , very much like morrowind and new vegas plots

The fact that they tell us "Citizen, I'm warning you!" suggests to me a relatively powerful faction - it seems that they are authority figures in the area they control.

@R8Bob are these new screens? do you have a link?

Did he have M'aiq's hat?

Serious note: thank you would explain why Blades started declining at such a fast rate after Martin's death. You think they would of held A strong presense for at least a century.

That was just my impression on the three choice of actions, but right that might be a time where you can not join but later you might get the chance at some other point.

I didn't quite follow what you were proposing.

Why did you feel that they might not be joinable?

EDIT: did you mean because none of the options was "join them" or "become their friend" etc.?

I think the faction experience would be cheapened in a way if you just randomly encounter the Stormcloaks and suddenly you are able to become a trusted member.

Also keep in mind Andrew Reiner just ran into them beside a river. It was Kevin Kelly who first heard rumors about the Stormcloaks in Riverwood, and he actually got a quest that said "Find and join the Stormcloak rebellion" - it seems pretty cut and dry if you have a quest that says you must join the Stormcloaks.

I think he's talking about the symbols on the map. Markarth has a ram like symbol, Morthal has a symbol, and Riften has a shield symbol. It's on the CE announcement picture on the Bethblog.

Yes, I'll join and support them if possible. Nords have always been the strength behind Cyrodiil, time for them to take the lead.

More or less exactly what I was thinking... but a successful rebellion is a long way from "taking the lead." It is a bit like supporting the anti-Empire factions in Morrowind; hard to tell if it wouldn't just create more chaos. Tough one, but it wouldn't be Elder Scrolls if it wasn't.

Then again, if it means the Imperial Cult will finally stop traipsing around everywhere being boring, and we will get more Shor love...

I just wanna join the Empire. I don't know why but I always chose the good guys in games, and whenever there isn't a clear good side, I go with the government / people in power.

The empire crumbles to dust, tyranny, civil wars how the hell could someone choose the empire?
Ps: I think tat the "stormcloacks" are a "chapter" of "the rebels"!

They still look like walrus' to me.

They appear to have flippers and slug like body. I dunno maybe thye aren't walrus'

well, horkers are the walruses of the elder scrolls... they looked like that in bloodmoon, too, sorta... just not as detailed.

as you can see, they have oddly-shaped mouths and atleast a few tusks sticking straight out... what kind of walrus looks like that, other than one that bathes in toxic waste?

In Morrowind and Oblivion I was on the side of the Blades, I'm sure Skyrim will be no different. Until I actually see the game though (in 96 days, 23 hours and 15 minutes), it's pointless to speculate.

Sounds cool, but if they DON'T wear cloaks that would be INSANE. So this had better be a confirmation of cloaks in the game.
