the strangest error I have ever seen, in my game!

---and in these forums too!!

hi all....

yup!

---this problem that I have is *THE* strangest that I have ever seen, or even read about, from you all's posts!

its Beyond Strange!

--the John Buzinski award for the most far out error problem: I *am* the Winner!!

here back a week ago, I discovered that I have add and taken away so many mods that I really needed a reinstall. I did so.

nuke!

--uninstalled, took out every mod with textures/meshes, and took out all of the folders containing Obmm and bash and even obse. I ran cc cleaner. did what I thought was the entire nine yards. I only left a couple of esps in the folder.

I reinstalled.

before I added anything, of textures or mods, I did a test run in the begining jail cell and coc to weye.

I used the original ini file.

now *here* is where the weirdness begins, folks.

its been years since I looked at vanilla graphics, in all of my plays and installs. I had forgotten how drab they looked.

well when I began my new character as a test and began the cell load, I found that...

THE PREVIOUS GAME'S TEXTURES WERE STILL THERE!!

got that, folks?!

--tis be like you cleaned out your refrigerator of everything so that there is nothing but bare shelves as you want to clean it. its empty. not even an ice cube in the freezer and no stray graqes in the fruit bin.

suddenly aunt Suzie knocks at the door and she comes in for coffee and you apologize that there are no snacks in the refrigerator.

"i'll look just in case", she says

before you can stop her, she opens the door and slowly she pulls out a cooled 20 pound cooked turkey, that is sitting on a huge plate! then she reaches in to get the 30 pound watermelon!!

so!

where oh where did these files come from, people?!

then I installed the bromrets and the vibrant texture packs. plus the oblivion official patch.

*then* I added, into my Original ini file the "invalidation" text that my "invalidationinvalidated esp's readme tells me to.

<<<

<<<>>>>

now with that text added, when I begin, I do NOT get my bromerets nor do I get the vibrant textures!! I get vanillia textures! this with the invalidation active in load order and entered into the Archive.

I even timestamped the oblivion bsa files to be like 2001, before all of the others!

now if I use my old ini file from the previous install, with all of my edits. the bromets and vibrant shows up all right but in front of weyre gate is a bland thing that indicates a missing texture! no cobblestones; just a bland white-ish blah. oh so nice for the rest of the graphics though. but vanillia is so drab and plus my screen is so dark that I cannot even see inside of the weye house.

is this fixable?!

don't tell me folks that the Oblivion engine Looks for texture files all over the hard drive!!

where did the Engine get the files from, files that are not now in my game, completely erased!

oh of course I have the "oblivionstuff/mods/0000" files where the downloaded files are and unzipped, don't tell me that this durned engine searches these files!

is there a hidden place on my hard drive where files are kept and kept track of.?!

don't tell me that I have to delete every file that is esp-less after installing!

seems that I read recently of another person who reinstalled their game and emptied their oblivion folder of everything but many of his mods were still there in his new game!!

could obmm be the culprit, where I installed some of the texture files as a Omod, even where uninstalled the new installed Obmm might still "seek" these files from where I had the zips unzipped....the "oblivionstuff" folder.

[might try, in the future, when after a successful install, that I rename that file folder of mods downloaded so that Obmm cannot now find it!

and why could not the archiveinvalidationinvalidated.esp find the vibrant and bromrets even when installed and activated and that line put into my new ini file?!

I am beginning not to trust the engine again! or is it Obmm?!

can anyone shed some light on this for me?

maybe I just should install qarls huge pack and Cover everything. then look up how to add more light to the game.

thanks...freestone
