On the Subject of Tsaeci Eating the Men of Akavir

A lot of people reference the men of Akavir as being 'eaten' by the vampiric snake-like people we call the Tsaeci. But reading on the Imperial Library has brought me new insight. Here is a quote from the page:

The serpent-folk ate all the Men of Akavir a long time ago, but still kind of look like them. They are tall, beautiful (if frightening), covered in golden scales, and immortal.

The part that catches my attention is "BUT STILL LOOK LIKE THEM". Leading me to wonder if the Tsaeci were a type of Akaviri man but eventually became the dominate type. In other words think of Vampires and the Tamrielic Men; it's as if saying the Vampires 'ate' the Men and instead of men there are just Vampires now.

I have my doubts that the Tsaesci were originally men - if you read We Ate It To Become It, the Tsaesci creation myth clearly includes a ton of reptilian imagery and metaphor which would be strange to come from a race of man. Plus, them being men is a bit less interesting to me than them being the Shape-Changing, Language-Eating Vampiric Snake People of Akavir.
