The Summerset Isles Alinor History

Post » Thu Feb 28, 2013 11:04 am

Yes I have read the wiki/wikia as well as "The provinces of Tamriel" from Morrowind and Tamriel (oblivion), but is there anyone out there with further information regarding the geography or culture of the land, I understand from what I have read that currently there are only two Islands left of three, the third which disappeared before the Skyrim conflict. I know that the main island is a mixture of open grassland's with small swamps and several mountain passages. The crystal tower stand on the main island. The culture currently is split between those attempting to maintain the Altmer traditional way of life and the younger youth attempting to destroy the old and bring about the new. Can anyone add more to this I have gained a large interest in the islands. :turtle:

While I can't offer much more, your best bet is to read the Pocket Guide to the Empire, both volumes 1 and 3, which is the foundation on which most of the lore of the series has been built. There are probably other texts that also help, but others know that area of the lore much better than me and would be better able to point you to which texts are ideal.

Also, careful about those wikis. The wikia is the worst of the lot, and even UESP has a lot of unsourced and incorrect speculation on it. UESP is good for actual, in-game information, but take the whole thing with a grain of salt. Your best bet is The Imperial Library, imperial-library.info, which contains every in-game text.

I will look into those thank you, and yes sadly many of the sites are incorrect or have conflicting information. For instance on one site (of which I cant recall which) I read that the crystal tower had been destroyed, but I have found nothing referencing this anywhere else.

Crystal-Like-Law went "down" in the Oblivion Crisis. Whether that means it was actually destroyed or simply deactivated, I don't know if we know - either way though, it's not functioning as a Tower anymore.

It's from the Rising Threat series of Skyrim books.
I stood transfixed as the heart of my homeland was torn as if from my own briast. The unthinkable, the incomprehensible... the tower of Crystal-Like-Law cast to the ground, with all the dignity of a beggar meeting an iron-clad fist. An eternity I watched, trying to reconcile what I knew with what I saw.
