The Survival of the Septim Blood?

Post » Thu Sep 02, 2010 4:32 am

Septim line went on for too long. I'm beginning to like Titus Mede, he sounds different than your average old-guy emperor.

That's because he wasn't divinely chosen, had no aid from divines, wasn't a product of a man making love to a hillock, and pretty much built everything from the ground up. He was nothing more than a lowly bandit becoming warlord then emperor. This guy has something all other Cyrodiilic emperors didn't have, guts to carve out an empire with no help from the divines.

no help YET. and it hasn't really worked. My guess is that either another stompy robot starts up or Lorkhan (who appears to be reforming as his avatars are appearing more often and his heart is free) decides to help.

I certainly do believe that there are other Septim heirs out there, and it is quite far-fetched to believe that Martin is the last Septim. What disturbs me most is how Uriel VII's three legitimate sons all had yet to sire any children, when certainly if they took after their father (or any of their grandfathers, really) they would've been having love affairs left and right. Certainly, I figure the reinforcement of patrilineal descent may be part of it, but in the end, I figure Bethesda just wanted to pull a dramatic end to the Septim line and emphasize the need to end this Tamrielic era, time to move on to things anew. And you know, seeing how they could lore-BS the terraforming of Cyrodiil into a forest, this isn't much different. :P

On the topic of possible descendants - the only one I will make mention of here, as I have for about four threads now, is a possible connection between the Septims and Daggerfall's royal family. In Daggerfall, an agent of the Underking will tell you (I believe as part of the reward dialog for the Castle Llugwych question) that "not even death can hide a true descendant of Tiber Septim from the Underking." For those who do not know, this is referencing King Lysandus - whose blood continues through his son Gothryd, who is still regent of that kingdom at the time of the 3rd Edition PGE. Of course, this entire bit of dialog may be merely metaphorical, though as the Underking's corporeal manifestation and mind seems to be that of Zurin Arctus, it may be literal.

Bloodline problem solved. Take some blood from Uriel Septim VII and inject it into Chancellor Ocato and SHAZAM! A new guy with Septim blood.

Of course there is a family member alive, always there.

The future of the Empire is in the hands of Bethesda, we'll see what she will do.

And... Never a Dunmer will lead the empire. Just as was in real life, "a kingdom can only be ruled by a king who is native of the kingdom."

Actually, a dunmer has ruled the empire before, the wife of Pelagius III, Katariah Ra'athim. When he died, she took over as Empress Regent and she was very competent and gave Cyrodiil one of its best (if not the best) years till her death.

a kingdom can only be ruled by a king who is native of the kingdom? go down to Valenwood and rag up an Ayleid then... Even a Nord like myself admits that we might be the best, but were are strangers to this land still. Perhaps you wand one of the blue elves of Glacier Crawl to rule Skyrim? I'd shout my tongue out if that ever happened.

Tiber Septim himself was no native of Cyrodiil but of Alcaire in High Rock, though accounts differ on whether he was a Nord or a Breton. Anyone who could shout down the walls of a city, though, would have some Nord blood in him or be well versed in their ways.

True, but I felt the allegation was more directed towards the dunmer than men

Yeah, but none of them were traitors to the Empire and impostors to Awesome and Terrible Majesty himself. That's a different sort of compromising.

Besides, bawdy pub songs aren't valued for being a source of information anyway.

Yes, she absolutely was with Jagar Tharn, if that is who you are referring to. She was the one that was getting the info to Ria about where the pieces of the Staff of Chaos could be found, sneaking into his diary while he "toileted" after their lovemaking. That is the how women usually get pregnant with a man's child, but even if you leave the birth of his child out of the story you still have the fact that they carried on openly in the palace, this was not a secret affair.

I think I expressed myself badly. I mean that normally a kingdom would not be ruled by a non-native king (because for every rule there is an exception). Would be strange but not impossible if we had an Dunmer emperor.

Sorry, folks. I just "discovered" Elder Scrolls last year so I am "beginner" in this subject, although I've understand a lot about it.

If the Imperial woman WERE to have a child with this DUNMERI man, the child would be mostly IMPERIAL, with maybe a little skin tint...

Woman owns the dominant appearance. Besides, I'm sure our Septim boys have had more bastard children than one could think. With all of the women they got in bed with, even Martin's mom, these guys had to have had another kid along with way (even in past history, 2nd era etc.). Over the course of a few thousand years in the era...think about this.

A bastard Septim child: He has 3 kids on a 30 year (on average) generation mark. Each one of those 3, then 3, then 3, and so on.

This is the scenario that right at the second era, Tiber Septim has 3 bastard kids. Or, one bastard kid with the timeline moved ahead 30 years.

Year: Septim Bastard Ratio on the 30-3 average.

360: 531441

390: 1594323

420: 4782969...

You get the point. I don't have to fill the rest of these.

We have a King Richard scenario here. I am a descendant of King Richard, but I am some American who is white, and has native American eyes and ears. There are a lot of people with Septim Blood.

I mean damn, they could raise an army to fight Titus Mede. Not to mention the 3rd era.

OMG, it's AMWAY !!!!! I agree with you though, you can't take a step in Cyrodiil without tripping over one of Uriel's bastards.

I like that they chose to present the new Emperor as an usurper rather than some long tucked away bastard child. Like others have said, there are thousands of bastard Septims in all likelihood. It would be almost boring to have another Septim appear.

I wouldn't call him a usurper yet, but a guy with the balls to build everything back up from scratch. He's the man with the plan and, if this was previous times, the guy fit to wear the amulet because of his ambition and power gains.

Not to mention that he did it in record time; when the Reman and Alessian Empires collapsed, it was centuries before someone reorganized a Cyrodiilic Empire.

That too. Then again, they used to sit on their butts and wait for the divines to do something. This guy was like "Screw waiting around, I'm going to kick ass."

Uriel Septim VII (the old murdered Emperor in Oblivion) didnt just "sit on his butts, waiting for the divines to do something".
http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:A_Life_of_Uriel_Septim_VII
That book explains what Uriel did.
He enforced Imperial peace, order and civilization (according to the Imperials) in Morrowind.
He sent lots of "unknown people" around the world who changed it extremly much (like the Warp In the West, Nerevarine).

He was overall pretty active. He changed Tamriel more than you can imagine.
Not your average "buttsitting guy who waits for divines to do stuff". Even if he propably was getting more cynical and passive at the end of his life (anyone who has played Oblivon has noticed that).

And we actually have no idea how the Mede?s actually are. All we know is that the current Emperor is a strong man.

Ugh, to specify, the only time the empire was ever made/rebuilt in the past was divine intervention. Read what Crimson and I said, and put it into proper context. Why would someone need to rebuild the empire, when they were the emperor of the empire already?

Sometimes I wonder if these Emperors care about anything else besides their money, food, and their women.

That's how many historic people were. Why travel into another land and screw yourself over?

The man could sit in his castle, his army could hold defense (and would probably win with "home field advantage, as well as they got to pick the terrain/battle spot for battle), and he would have all of his ladies and wealth.

Think King Solomon.

Tiber Septim did a lot of politicking, with his Underking leading his forces, and Zurin Arctus doing the research and performing other Imperial Battlemage duties and probably did some fighting with his powerful magic skills at legendary levels.

But...TS did get Barenziah preggers and had the child removed.
