Oh, the sweet irony

Post » Fri Aug 06, 2010 2:33 am

So I figured I would finally, after 27 and change hours, just go to the strip. I've just been doing side quests, still haven't chosen between NCR or CL yet. I intended to check out most of the map before I went there, but at level 14 all kinds of lovely weapons/mods showed up at the regular stores, so I thought I'd check out Gun Runners.

I got overly excited when I looked at their stuff, so I'd figure I might as well gamble and get me some nice mods and what not.

I go straight to the Gomorrah and play a little blackjack. I get from 2K to 7K and hit the slots. Things are going nicely until I hit triple oranges (your bet X 160). As soon as a new fully repaired Sniper Rifle flashed into my mind the damn game crashed, right after I hit it.

I had a quest person go totally sideways and run off and get stuck early this morning (had to revert to previous saves), my first crash this afternoon, and now that. I'm so bummed that it didn't crash when I had only 2/3 oranges. Why did you let me see I had hit it?

I'm grumpy as hell now and I think NV and I are not on speaking terms until far later today.

I know my story isn't as bad as people who can't play or have mega amounts of bugs, but dammit I had such a pretty much issue free run and it bites me in the ass.

End rant.

The game will often crash if you go over the bust limit via a large jackpot..

I could, but I'd feel like I was cheating and it would start a snowball effect.

Oh, that is something I had no idea of that. I didn't know I needed to know the bust limits in advance.

Maybe he's a console user.

Nope, I'm on PC.

Ouch. Nothing hurts more than that. Every game that's done that to me I've immediately quit and left it a for a while. You feel totally dejected. It's like writing a story and having someone throw water all over the paper turning it into a soggy mess. Or cleaning your car only to have a flock of birds crap all over it. Utter dejection, disappointment, and a little Nerd Rage. Heh. What's PC gaming without that sobering dejection and a little Nerd Rage? Ha ha!

I've gotten tripple oranges at Gomorrah twice. both times with 8 luck.

keep spinnin

If you don't want to max out (i think gomorrah's cap it 10k) then just blow some money on roulettes then hit the slots again.

If there was a way to save between the 3 symbols showing on a slot and you finding out how much you won, I would have been doing it frantically.

I totally agree, except with the part about a little Nerd Rage, there was a lot more than a little. Something had to happen sooner or later to make me irritated.

Funny thing is, there is nothing to be done about it and I should just hop back into the game. But, I am still pouting. :violin:

My favorite glitch so far has been assembling the enclave group and then having them attack me the moment they drop from the vertibird...I was like well that figures. Surprised the bomber didnt try to zero in on me either.

Thanks, that cheered me right up. I should have done my research, 10 luck means less crashes, makes perfect sense.

It svcks but hey, think of it as a part of the whole gambling deal. Luck smiled with an evil grin on you. Perhaps next time she'll be more forgiving.

I got rich without gambling.
Amazing what little weapons are worth so much. You know the incinerator?
That gun is worth a lot of caps. Find as many of those as you can, repair them with those repair bags...
Bam, instant rich! I have about....lets see.... 25,679 caps from weapons I don't use.

It's not that I necessarily needed the caps, it was more of a, I want that really expensive fully repaired sniper rifle, those 5 mods, that 44 magnum, and etc., and I want it very quickly thing. I wanted to see if I could gamble myself up a fat chuck quickly and it would have worked if things didn't go terribly wrong.

Yeah, you can make a great deal of cash off fixed up weapons. I'm kind of surprised that you can get nearly 2K off a nice condition bumper sword.

I had the same issue, just not in Gomorrah, but in Atomic Wrangler. 3 oranges and then crash.
