The #27

Post » Tue Feb 10, 2015 5:50 am

As in a LOT of your games, I've been "compiling" many, MANY occurrences regarding the #27 (or multiples of, or variations of...) as well as other numbers and symbols and patterns repeating throughout some Bethesda games. And Square/Enix, Valve Software, Activision, EA Games, Ubisoft and even 2K Games (just to name a FEW). I already asked Square about this (although I was a bit abrasive at first) but received no answer.

So, I'm trying again, but asking with a bit more courtesy. What is the deal with the #27 and the other patterns? If anything... I'd just like to ask about the #27 alone (if only to get me started in the right direction...).

In Elder Scrolls: Oblivion, the Emperor announces the game's starting date as "27th Seed"...

In Fallout: New Vegas, the opening cut-scene shows the year 2025 ( which equals 27 x 75)...

In Doom 3, the "Flight Schedule" in the "Departure Lounge" shows that you've arrived on Decemeber 27, 2145...

(i'll be investigating Skyrim, RAGE and Wolfenstein: New Order when I finally can...)

I even started a Steam Group called "Why #27?" about this (mostly so I can share my dilemma). But, seriously... I'm more open-minded after researching this as of late... but I'd really like to have a direct answer from ANYBODY from the games' development teams. Of course, anyone with some answers might just be enough.

Thanks,

Gregory "Yellowowl" Allen

If you look hard enough you can find the exact same "coincidences" with any number. Or any name, or object, etc.

In other words, it means nothing, except that humans look for patterns where none exist.

So we can expect an extensive report on your findings in those games... soon?

Doom 3 isn't a Bethesda game, and that New Vegas thing is a huge stretch. I doubt there is any significance in the number 27.

Op, no offense, but I think you're really grasping for straws to find a non-existent pattern, buddy. There's thousands of video games out there, you can latch on to any game with a number and find a game with similar numbers, but that doesn't mean they're connected in some kind of plot or something.

It's a coincidence.

Doom 3 was made BEFORE Bethesda Softworks acquired ID Software. So, any instances of that number are irrelevant to Bethesda developed games. Likewise, Rage was all, but done by the time ID was taken under the Beth-Soft/Zenimax umbrella.

New Vegas, different developer. And quite frankly, if the date was different, you could use any number of sums to reach that number.

And as Pluto points out, you could probably pick any number and find numerous incidences of it in any game. Or colors.Or words even, I've noticed 'The' tends to get used a lot in Bethesda games.

Different patterns can be found in numbers, that's why this sort of thing is fun. I always enjoy these sorts of conspiracy/mysteries. :)

Wait... is this an illuminati thing?? :ahhh:

Our faces will implode and expose our brains that have the number 27 printed on them.

As others have said, there really isn't any pattern here. In regards to your second one about Fallout, there are any number of mathematical ways you could arrive at that number which don't include the number 27. Also, when you talk about "your games," are you referring to Bethesda's games? Because Bethesda had nothing to do with Doom 3. Doom 3 was released in 2004, and ZeniMax didn't acquire Id Software until 2009.

Are the 3 games you listed the only ones you've found this in? Because that really doesn't equal "a lot."
