The Thalmor and the Righteous

I think I will save this post for future reference when these threads crop up again with your permission, it is the most exhaustive and comprehensive exposition of the fallacies of the juvenile knee-jerk anti-thalmor rhetoric I've seen to date. Thanks for this post.

I'd be thrilled if you did that. Being quoted is always fun!

Eh, so who is the righteous side?

You have to choose. Which side fits your values more? In most conflicts, all sides see themselves as being righteous, so you could easily say that both the Thalmor and the Empire are righteous. Would you rather be a sort of immortal spirit being, or a mortal man with a nice job and kids and a dead grandfather whose memory you cherish? If you'd prefer being a spirit, you should probably support the Thalmor. If you'd prefer being a human, you should probably support the Empire. Either way though, both sides are involved in some really nasty stuff, and some really nice stuff. The Thalmor are pretty totalitarian, but they also dismantled the Dark Brotherhood when they invaded Cyrodiil (there's a book in the foyer of the DB sanctuary that covers this). The Empire can be very corrupt and execution-happy, but they've also done the most to fight slavery. There's more than enough room for both sides.

Like real life there is no real good nor evil, its a matter opinion. Main difference for the Thalmor, the mortal world has to end for their desired world to take form. Mankind does better at coexisting and tolerating others ideals than the Thalmor.
