the thieves highway

Many fantasy novels that I've read have the thieves guild (no Bethesda didn't make it up) using the thieves highway - this usually refers to either the sewers or the rooftops. While Bethesda can and has done wonderful things with sewers, we're still out on the rooftop express. After playing a bit of assassin's creed, I was wondering if it would even be possible to implement a fraction of what ubisoft did with the elder scrolls. It doesn't need to include all the parkour (sp?) but the ability to climb a wall and platform around on the roofs must be within their abilities. Give the thief a rope and hook and some open windows and bob would be your uncle. It would also bring in an actual use for acrobatics. It would however be a huge game mechanic to create for a fraction of the playercharacters. I'm not expecting this for Skryim, but myabe TES6 will be able to do something along these lines.

Probably not. The thing about AC was it was entirely built around parkour, whereas the ES is not. These games implement Combat oriented playstyles, magic playstyles, as well as stealth, and I don't see gamesas focusing so much detail on the stealth at the expense of others.

Basically this. Would it be a neat addition? Yeah. Will it happen? No. I would like to see buildings that are closer together (something we have seen from the trailer I think). If you find a way onto the roofs you should be able to get from one place to another using the rooftops with relative ease. It would also be nice if there were paths around town that not everyone used, the kind of thing that is great for thieves.

I definitely want to be able to grab a ledge. Hate missing it by that much, and then fall to my death, or into the arms of guards chasing me. But that sort of system works with small 3rd person games, not so much for 1st person.

I believe it was already confirmed that climbing was not in
bethesda kinda has a bad history of it also, they have been trying to put ladders in for the past 3 games but it never worked

It's confirmed not in but I would really like to see it for the next game, and I'd love it if someone made a mod for it. Although that too would be very hard to do.
