The things people say...

Post » Mon May 07, 2012 7:17 pm

Have you ever just stood in a room in Morrowind and heard the crazy things the NPCs say? I once was walking through the Ald'ruhn Mages guild when I heard an NPC say "I shouldn't have pushed so hard". I was thinking, "Wait, what?!" Then I started to notice everything else, such as in Mournhold a Royal Guard (or maybe it was a High Ordinator) saying "Is it just me, or did she put starch in my shorts?" This is not a joke, I have actually heard someone say this in the game.
So: Any curious/strange/weirdsthings you've heard an NPC say?

EDIT: Actually, after hearing it again, I realize it was "Good grief. Did she really out starch in my shorts?"

"Dirt dirt dirt, everywhere dirt!"

And what's the one about not remembering using a teleportation spell? "yet there I was, alone and naked!"

I had the TV on and a an Olive Garden commercial for pyramid ravioli came on. As I walk past Stargel in Balmora, he says "I cant imagine eating one of those things." :P

I don't recall using teleportation. And there I was. Alone. Naked.

I think these were added by Tribunal:
Female Dunmer: "He's not hard to look at"
Male Dunmer: "If I worked out, I'd look like that too."

That whole village and its' inhabitants are interesting. I was hanging out in Kjolver's house when she blurted out:

"Who's cheese is this? This isn't *MY* cheese!"

Unfortunately, I have never been to Solthseim.

Solstheim? An amazing place, I've heard. There is a boat from Khuul, if you want to go.

Yeah, well, I only just found my copies of the expansions, and I wanted to play through them in order (As in Morrowind MQ, then Tribunal, the Bloodmoon).

Oh, man. I could not enter or exit the Balmora Thieves guild without hearing that one at least once.

Yes, at least there is the female Nord nearest the entrance. I'd forgotten, I only thought about the male version of that line. But the female version may be even twice as horrendous! ._. That laughter...

There are a few ways we can do this, and the choice is yours.

Golden words, I have said them time and again. From family to customers, to enemies. Especially to enemies.

Except for those six, I suppose.

Reminds me of the first time I entered the census. When I heard those words, I literally jumped on my chair. "Oh, you wanna fight old man?! Huh? Character creation? Oh... my bad." I really thought a combat tutorial was about to start with some kind of "We can do this the easy way or the hard way."

Yes, but I was looking for more of the things people just say when they are standing around. This is just something that Khajiit say to dismiss you.

"The blue plates are nice, but the brown ones seem to last longer."

I don't know why, but that one cracked me up the first time I heard it. Had to close the game and go do something else for a while.

I can pretty much run all the lines from that (all the way from the opening narration to "Your papers, please.") completely in my head... with the right voices and everything. Seriously, if the character creation section disappeared from everyone's computers tomorrow you could probably recreate it exactly by scanning my brainwaves or something, that's how completely it's been burned in.
